When I'm playing casually, 90% of the time its just for excersise. So i don't really care what i shoot or where the ball goes as long as i can find it. Other golfers seem to gravitate to that type of attitude. That and I'm super cool.

I'm guessing finding your ball isn't much a problem most of the time if you're a +1...

Well written. Not sure if it applies to all people/groups (it would be ridiculous to assume that though lol). For me, I don't mind quiet golf with the occasional "good shot" or "nice putt." Light chit chat. I don't have a self esteem issue so I don't really need encouragement or anything. I do really appreciate when people try to help me find a ball. I'm discovering that my depth perception is TERRIBLE. When I play in my Saturday group I actually play much better because when I'm looking for my ball in some deep rough I'm often 30-40 ft away of where it actually landed. 2 weekends ago a guy in my group found my ball at least 3 times! Think of how many strokes that saved me! lol.

Definitely agree on the temper thing. I'm one of those folks that may bust out a swear word after a piss-poor shot but I make a POINT to let my PPs know that 5 seconds later I'm over it and continuing on in a good mood. I think that's important.

Oh thats not true at all...lol

I hit my fair share of awful shots. When i tell people my handicap they assume i break par every time i play, but the reality is that i only break par maybe 6-7 times a year. Most of my rounds are in the mid 70's.

Definitely... DEFINITELY don't be the creepy 'cart girl is hot' guy.  It gets awkward in a hurry.  In 2004, I was playing with a club that played all around the area I was living in.  I was 25 at the time and, by far, one of the younger guys in the club.  I often got paired with the guys that were mid 40's and would make completely inappropriate comments about the cart girls.  Seeing as how many of the girls were in my age range, it was always very awkward to hear what they were saying and, truthfully, I never respected anybody who made comments like that.

Beyond that... I enjoy playing with people who have personalities.  I enjoy conversation beyond the typical pleasantries.  If I'm going to be on the course with you for 4+ hours... I'd expect to know something about you by the end of the round and vice-versa.

If you're willing to trade barbs back and forth (golf related or otherwise) and laugh about them... you're my kinda guy and I can see us playing together more in the future.  Being a big sports fan... I love playing with people who can talk trash AND take it without getting hurt feelings.  There's nothing worse than getting paired with someone who makes a comment about my Giants ball marker or my Mets hat, starts talking trash... and then says they're a Lions fan or something, but gets bent out of shape when I talk trash back.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
