You guys helped me with a lot of good info on wedges a few weeks ago.

I decided to try and find a OS Approach wedge at 50* and then planned
on retiring the OS sand wedge at 55* and purchase a CG10, CG11 or Vokey
at 54* and 58*.

Well the guys on Ebay are paying 45.00 to 50.00 + 15.00 shipping for the
OS A wedge in steel shaft regular flex.

With those prices do you think I would be better off just getting all three,
50*, 54*, 58* in the CG10 or CG11?

Thanks for the help

Kelly

No, because wedges are the hot commidity right now on ebay in regards to everyone selling fakes (especially clevelands). When it comes to wedges, bite the bullet and pay full price at a shop. Do not buy from ebay...My two cents.

Yea, that is what I meant to say.... I can get CG10 or 11 new at a shop

or online shop for close to the price they are getting for a used RAC OS approach wedge.

OK here is what I have come up with....

I can get new CG12's "free" with some earned points in something called "builders club".

Basically I earn points when I purchase products from participating vendors, in this case my lumber yard, where I spend lots of $$$$$$ a year.

Please look at the CG12 what bounce thread for my next question....

Sorry to be a pain in the rear, I just don't know the answerers to this stuff.

Zakko,

Tried to email you but you have that option turned off and I don't see a private message button anywhere.

    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
