This topic is a follow-up or carries on the idea first covered in this relatively old (but still useful) topic:

Now… that does not mean I advise practicing by making two-step swing as I've done here. Virtually nobody will swing back that far with NO wrist hinging or elbow flexing and then add it all. It's simply a "geometrical proof" of sorts - that you don't have to add to the depth by pulling your hands further around or behind you.

  • iacas changed the title to Hand Depth Primarily Comes from the Pivot/Turn

This is one of my major flaws.  I get the hands too far behind me.  I feel like my right hip starts back too quickly, leaving an easy path for the hands to get way inside.  I sometimes feel like I should restrict the hip turn to prevent this from happening.

What shoud I work on to get the proper turn you show, rather than the second image of way inside?

Thanks.

Another great video!

Still something I catch myself from time to time. Much less so than I use to since it was a priority piece for me at one time. I still try to feel like I start my swing with the hip turn rather than my hands.

I like this explanation of the flaw that seemed to have crept into my swing. I recently tried to restrict the depth of my hands to a line level with my hips and feet (similar to the red line in your video). The improvement in my ball striking and accuracy were immediate. It had been too long since I visited this site. In fact it was a memory of the original thread on this topic that led me here.

I'm glad I came back. :-)

Happy to help, and sincerely, thank you for posting again in an older but good topic. I hope it floats back into the consciousness of people.
