I had undergraduate degrees in psychology and journalism at U. of Missouri. I served in the Marine Corps between earning the two.

Of interest to @iacas, I racked up five college French courses, but Mizzou did not allow undergrad minors at the time - they wanted us Tigers to take a broad range of courses outside our major.

While in college, I worked stints in bartending and school audio-visual.

Next I worked as a newspaper reporter and copy editor, and got an MBA at Midwestern State (Texas) so I could specialize in the business beat. Then, my MBA profs suggested I get PhD, so I got one in management at University of North Texas and now teach strategy in a business school. (I'm sure as heck not the golf coach.)

Some stretches of schooling I enjoyed much more than others. I liked not just the courses, but some very interesting professors I met. I respect anyone who devotes their life to becoming a source of special knowledge.

I guess that's why I like golf pros so much. They keep trying to help people get better at the game, despite the fact the money isn't always that good amid the recent golf slump. (Hopefully we're exiting the trough).

And my classmates. I studied with bankers, Air Force personnel, oil field engineers (Texas and Oklahoma), health care workers, restaurant managers... I learned a lot about other professions by being in class with these people.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I forgot, I was the Environmental Compliance Manager at the Eastland Woolen Mill in Corrine Maine that was an interesting job working at a textile mill.
