Hello all,

I am here to ask for some advice on conducting a golf tournament. We are conducting this tournament for the first time in our club, so I am not really sure about the game, and its rules. We are planning to give cash prizes, and planning to get the trophies and awards for the winners. It would be great if anyone could give me a quick update on how to start planning things. Also, I would like to know more about the game. Thanks for helping.

Do you have a general manager and golf pro at the club?  They should be able to do stuff like that in their sleep....

First off, form a small committee and assign responsibilities to prepare for the event.
A fun event we have at our club is "Nine and Dine"
It a couples nine hole scramble with a dinner and drinks.

I would keep cash prizes to a minimum and forget trophies.
Gift certificates or golf shop credit are a better prize/award.

Is there a purpose for hosting your event?

Beware of cash prizes that are too high! I think the limit at the moment is $750: after that one needs to forfeit their amateur status to collect the prize. You probably weren't considering going that high, but it needs to be said nonetheless...

Trophies are nice but grown men (and women) don't need trophies, at least I don't.

Is this a charity tournament, a tournament of social interest, a competitive one?
