My goals for the year (Starting in May) were:

1. Break 100. Did this on Monday.

2. Improve my putting. I want every round under 35 putts by the end of 2008.

3. Hit every club in my bag. Right now I can't use a 4 or 5 iron, or my driver, 3W, or 5W with any reliability.

4 (new goal). Break 95 by the end of October.

5 (new goal). Break 90 by the end of 2008.

I threw my clubs into the lake so it's time to start over...

I want to make the middle school golf team, i think ive got it down pat, playing some good golf lately
and, i want to get my drives to around 225 and my 3 wood over 200 consistently, this may be unrealistic, but, hey?

Simple, break 85 on a par 70-72 course (5,500-6,300 yards, 110-125 slope); and break 70 on the executive course (par 60) that we play. I've already shot 85 once this year, now I gotta go lower! Still quite a ways away from the 70 score.
My Equipment:
Northwestern 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-wood;
Goldwin AVDP Irons (5-10 plus PW);
U.S. Golf 60 degree wedge;
See-More Putter; Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 Rangefinder;Golflogix GPS.

I´m not a big favorite for setting goals in golf with timeframes - thats just not working out well and the worst things happen in golf if you push too hard.

I started with 14 this year and i wanted to get single hcp - which i achieved 2 weeks ago.

But what i really want is a Par round (on a challening course that is). That always has been the biggest motivator for me when i picked up this game 2 years ago. Today i came closest ever with some really errand shots with 76. I feel i have a fair chance - maybe end of this year - but probably not later than beginning/mid next year...

Break 100 by the end of the year. I wasn't that far off earlier but then I tinkered my swing and now I suck ... badly, I'd happy just to get back to my playing level of a month ago by the end of the year.

Things I Am Good at in Golf

- Hitting it in the drink
- Finding the rough with my drive
- Staying in the bunker- Hitting grassburners all the way to the hole- Three putting- Posting over par on 18 in only 9 holes- Swinging and missing with an iron

Hmmm...

Drop handicap a shot to 3.
Get a bit fitter.
Practice more, particularly with a view to a more consistent long game.
Play smarter i.e. THINK!
Focus on every shot; easy getting distracted on a nice summer's day .

1. Improve my wedge game from within 100 yards. I'm just guessing at distances with my sw and pw right now. This goal includes reducing my usual 2-4 duffs per round.
2. Gain consistency with my new driver.
3. Drop my handicap below 15.

-- Drop 10 shots off my handicap (i.e., go from 20 down to 10)

-- Play 18 holes twice a week on average, and convince my wife that I'll live longer, be happier, treat her better, and be better looking if I play three times a week

-- Try to remember that golf is supposed to be fun. If I wanted to work, I could stay at work.

-- Take my kids putting every weekend (my oldest girl is 9 and she just drains them all goofy-footed and misaligned, probably because she's having fun and doesn't know it's supposed to be hard; my youngest girl is 6 and she has yet to discover the joy in hitting the ball in the hole -- she tries to knock down the sparrows with her cut-down putter)

-- Learn more about the history of the game

-- Remember that men in their 40s should not wear white belts

    • Damn. Will he have to DQ? I wonder if that would have happened if it was Tiger.
    • I think Scheffler was no1 SG Driving before this incident, be interesting to see how far he falls….
    • They (DA) will work out a plea deal, probation, pay a chunk of money that sort of thing. LPD/ State of KY only see this as a payday. Seems like a situation that escalated way further than it should have by both parties, Scotties anxious to get to the course, rainy, traffic confusion. Cop probably has a fat wife who's cheating on him so he's pissed off. Lose-lose situation.
    • Well put. If Scottie is a proper thug, then he is going to light up the course today.
    • It’s Louisville, so from living here  in Kentucky for 28 years, it doesn’t surprise me.. lucky he didn’t get tazed.. Not saying scottie is in the right,  just guessing it escalated quickly. And this is why I stay in Lexington:-)
