I finally purchased wedges

My wedge saga has come to an end, at least for now! ;)

I have OS2 irons with a PW at 45* The OS2 AW is going
for crazy prices used 55+shipping. I just couldn't pay
that much when the TM TP and RAC wedges were going
for far less.

Since I could not find a place to test the the 52* TM wedges
for distance I waited around on Ebay for a good price. I also
found some interesting RAC FE2o3 wedges for a real nice price.
the 56*-12 was $15.50!

So I ended up with a 56*-12 and 60*-8 in FE2o3 (raw steel)
and a 52 RAC in chrome. All for around $75.00 - 80.00 shipped.

I did make sure I purchased all the same type of wedge flex shafts
so the fell will consistent.

We will see how it works out.

I don't really dig the whole 7-4-4 loft difference, it seems like it would have been better to go 50-55-60(bend a 54 to 55, or bend a 56 to 55).

I think you're still going to notice a pretty huge gap between your PW and GW.

That is why I bought cheap to start with....

I read a lot about ball trajectory with cavity back clubs vs. muscle back clubs like the RAC and RAC Tour Play. Even TM own site shows a lower trajectory from the RAC over the OS2's. I am thinking the RAC 52 will go about the same as an OS2 50... That's what I was thinking anyway, and with cheap used clubs I can bend them a little if I am wrong.

The 56 and 60 degree wedges showed up today!

The 56 is in almost new condition, can't beat that for 15.50!
The 60 is a bit more used but still looks real nice and not
worn out.

Don't be to scared of ebay, there are some good deals to be had.

I followed your earlier thread and just wanted to say congratulations. Sounds like you got a few nice deals.

I think you'll find the loft difference between your 45* and 52* accounted for in trajectory. If not, as you say, you're not out very much for trying.

I was able to get to the range today but I had my 3.5 year old boy with me. I got him a little 9 iron and cut down an old putter I had. He actually hit more balls then I did! The 56 and 60 degree wedges worked well and I like them. The 52 did have a different flight path, then my pw at 45*. It flew about 95-105 yards compared to 110-120 of my OS2 PW. However I did not like the feel as much with the full swing as I do with the OS2 irons. I have purchased a OS2 A wedge and it should be here in a day or 2 so I can report back with a full comparison. It seems easier to swing the OS2 irons. I am not sure if it is the weight or a balance thing?

You can get them bent to fill the gaps. 52 bent to 50 and 56 bent to 55. The wedges in my signature were bent. 52 to 50 and 56 to 55.

What you could be feeling is the difference in swing-weight. Your OS2s are probably somewhere around a D0 or D1. The Chrome RAC 52* is somewhere around a D4. So, that's a pretty good difference. Aside from the feel, your distance gaps seem pretty tight, so at least you did a good job blending various clubs together.

You are correct, the OS irons are D1 up to the 9i. PW and AW=D2, SW=D4.

I was able to get out to the range the other day and here is what I found...

The 50* OS A wedge has the same distance as the Rac 52*. I was much more comfortable swinging the OS A wedge then the RAC 52*, so the OS A wedge stays in the bag.

The OS 55* S wedge vs. the 56* RAC...
I could drop balls from both clubs right at the 90 yard mark with the same swing. I like the feel of the RAC better and it looks better at address. Add to that the ability to open the club up if needed, I will replace the OS sand wedge with the RAC 56.

The RAC 60 lob wedge. I really like this one and can drop balls at 75-80 yards with a full swing.

In conclusion it looks like this:

PW 45* = 110-115 - 120 if I hit it really pure.
AW 50* = 100-105
RAC 56* = 90-95
RAC 60* - 75-80
