well, finally decided to get fit. I will either adjust loft/lie on what I already have (Hogan Edges), or more than likely go with a partial set of Wishon 565's. I will go with 6 through PW for now and if needed, add a club or two in the future.  Fitter will be ADS Golf, owned by Gene Bonk former head instructor of San Diego Golf Academy who came personally recommended by Tom Wishon.  The shafts will probably be DGIR, but will take it upon advisement. ADS also has other heads available such as Muira's (a bit expensive). This should be done in time for debut on TST SOCAL event. Tom Wishon has moved to the UK, but Gene told me, he can get heads within a week if he does not have them in stock. Fitting is very reasonable at $95/hr and he told me, can probably be done in an hour or less. I hope to get out for under $800. This will definitely be my last set of irons.  Wish me luck. Thanks.

Love my 565's. I have 5-AW (7 clubs) with Rifle shafts, and the whole thing ran $980.

sounds about right. I used to have the Rifle shafts on my Titleist 963's (DCI Black). Shudda kept em!

Fitter also mentioned the 771's, but I do not like the looks of them.

I also have the Wishon 919THI driver (separate fitting), and that is the most forgiving driver I've ever hit. Tom designs some great clubs.

I did not like the 771's, but you should certainly hit them. You mentioned that he carries Miura as well. If he has the tiny Miura blades, hit them for fun. They are crazy small. They won't be the right clubs for you, but it's such an odd look, being so tiny.

yes, I have been exchanging notes with Tom for some time now, here and on other forums as well as his site.  He is pretty good about getting back to people no matter how busy he is.

OK, had to go on the Wishon Golf website and have a look. Man! Those 565's are sweet! You know what else I found out? There's a Wishon certified fitter about 7 miles from me! Never knew they existed. Amazing what you can find out if you'll just look.

And I did notice that on the website. Wishon must spend a lot of time responding to inquiries and comments from people. You can believe I'll be following this thread!

Always good to hear a out someone getting fit by a qualified fitter.  I use Ace of Clubs here in Mass.

Let us know how u make out.  I just did a wedge fitting since my iron shafts are so different than my wedge shafts now..

Excuse the off-topic @Buckeyebowman but what is going on in your profile photo? Is that you proposing?

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

That was supplied by the website! It used to be a picture of mushrooms, which was cool since I'm a 'shroom hunter. But the exact same thought occurred to me. I look like Mark Cuban proposing to some hysterical blonde woman!

I suppose I need to pay more attention to my profile, and figure out how to post pics here.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
