Yea.......haha....thanks David for reminding me!!!    With that said,  I am sooooooooo looking forward to playing golf again, but it's on the back burner for me for now.   My son is 14 and in a few years he will be gone and off to college.  For now, following his  bowling tournament schedule is first priority!!!   I am not a bowler......he got started on his own!!!!!!!   I am a bowler now, but Colby got me started. I bowl in 3 leagues a week now, and my son kicks my ass.......LOL....    He bowled a 5 game sweeper last weekend and averaged 253...he has real potential.  Im a 210'ish league average....and he's 220+ and rising.

15 and under.....Colby is one of the top bowlers in the country.  Good golf weather?...what?...I was probably watching bowling!!!!......if you know what I mean?.....it's fun times though....it's all good.  When he goes to college....my golf game will prosper..............

I have 2kids and my daughter is grown and already moved out full time sooner than expected.  I still have my son for a few more years and my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying traveling the country so he can bowl. In a few weeks...we go to Texas...so he can compete in a big field.  this summer....we will be at Nationals....In Cleveland.  This is the world we live in.....no complaints.  I am a BUCKEYE!!!!!...................... I promise you I will play golf with at least 1-2 old friends from 20 years ago while being in Ohio during he summer.   We plan to go to Cedar Point.....the ultimate roller coaster park..............LOVE THAT PLACE!!  When I was a kid, I had a season pass for about $45........today a day pass is about $160? Hell...I don't even know!!  Hahaha

Colby...........rolling the rock.......he makes it look easy...........this is why he's one of the elite youth bowlers in the country....

This was his first win beating  a host of college age kids in a regional multi-state tourney............................as a 14 year old. As his DAD.............that was fun to WATCH!!!  The Elite bowlers make stringing strikes....one after the other look easy.....and make their spares. Not that bowling is a profession to make good money, but he is a top prospect.

I was able to play last saturday...........   this is about as bad as "physically possible" as I can play.........I carded an 85. Hey...............it's early and I wasn't even that upset.   It's early and I was more than happy to post my 2nd official round into the GHIN system..........

The way I see it...I want to get 20 in.......build the CAP to whatever it is....then whittle it down. I will get down to the .0..........I lost weight and feel good.

He was so nonchalant when he won. Did he not realize he had won the tournament when he bowled the final strike, or was there still bowling to go before he won?

Interesting. Around here golf leagues begin and end when they do, and bowling leagues begin and end when they do because of each other! Guys who bowled would catch Hell if their team wound up in the championship and had to golf another week or two. and vice versa for the bowlers who showed up a week or two late for the start of golf league.

I used to bowl in a league. Had an average in the 180's, so I wasn't stellar but I wasn't chopped liver either. I bowled several 700 sets, and my best single game was 252.But bowling didn't "grab" me the way golf did. I haven't bowled in 20+ years!

He knew he won the tourney after the first strike in the10th....the rest was academic........   If you watch him bowl, he could be bowling a 150 or a 300 and you'd hardly know by his reactions to it.   When he sat down in the seat after his third strike in the 10th well after he buried his opponent, he looked to the side and revealed a small "smirk" ..he was looking at his mom in the gallery..........  that is about as much emotion as he shows ever...LOL

I give him credit because he's steady.......good or bad....he stays on an even keel.

With that said,I won't be playing golf this weekend because I'll be sitting in a bowling alley all weekend watching the youngster compete.   It's all good though......no complaints.

I currently bowl in 3 leagues..LOL......and my son got me started!!!!  We bowl through April....and then golf kicks into high gear for me.  By then my sons tourney schedule will be dying down so this will free up my weekends.

    • Probably since the golfer has to swing the club back and up. The hands have to move back and up. You can feel them go back and up just by turning the shoulders and bending the right arm, because it brings your hands towards your right shoulder.  The difference is if you maintain width or not. Less width means a shorter feeling swing path so the more you need to lift the arms. Being as someone who gets the right arm bend at 110+ degrees, it's 100% a timing issue. I am use to like a 1.5+ second backswing. It probably should be like 1 second at most. Half a second or more will feel like an eternity. I have had swings where I keep my right arm straighter and I am still trying to time the downswing based on the old tempo.  Ideally, for me, it is probably going to be a much quicker and shorter (in duration) backswing, while keeping the right elbow straighter. Which also means more hinging to get swing length without over swinging.

    • I'm currently recuperating from surgery, so no golf, but have been thinking about this quite a bit. This and the don't overbend the right arm thing. It's hard for me to even pose the position, so I'm not 100% sure, but I feel like it's impossible to have the right humerus along the shirt seam and not overbend your right arm, unless your hands are down near your hips. If the left arm is up at or above the shoulder plane and your right arm is bent less than 90 degrees, then your right humerus has to raise or your hands will get pulled apart. Your left hand can't reach your right hand unless either the right upper arm is up or the right arm is overbent. Is that right? If it is, then focusing on not overbending the right arm would force you to raise the humerus. And actually thinking further on it, if you do overbend your right arm, then you're basically forcing your upper arm down or forcing your left arm to bend. Since (for me at least) bending the left arm too much is not something I think I need to worry about, it means that the bend in the trail arm is really the driving force behind what happens to the right humerus.
    • I managed to knock off a 3, a 13, and a 15 a couple of weeks ago. The 3 was a 185 yard par 3 with a 6 iron to 12 feet. 13 was a 350 yard par 4, which was a 2 iron and a 9 iron to about a foot. 15 was a 560 yard par 5 with a driver in a bunker, 4 iron into the semi, gap wedge to 8 feet and a putt.
