Not due to golf, but my mother-in-law had to have surgery twice (different fingers) to cure trigger-finger. She's 100% with both of them now.

I've been pretty lucky as far as golf injuries go. I had a sore back last spring for about two months, but once I got some lessons and quit hitting 10" behind the ball that's been a lot better.

Sorry to hear about your nagging finger injuries. It sure does put a damper on things when we're in physical pain.

I read up on trigger finger. It sounds painful. I had no idea that we lack muscles in the fingers and all the action is made by tendons from the arms. Pretty interesting, to say the least. If you're interested, here's a good web site with information on treatments. LINK

Best of luck with this condition.

I started to feel a left ankle injury coming on late this fall. I'm a righty and this is my forward ankle.

It got to a point where the pain was excruciating and I wasn't able to bear any weight. Even after reviewing a few x-rays, my podiatrist couldn't figure out the problem and decided to put me in a cast for a month to allow the inflammation to subside.

After removing the cast, my ankle feels o.k. now, but a little week. I'm not certain what caused my ailment, but I think I probably aggravated my ankle's ligament or tendon from the torque and forward weight shift it received from the through swing.

Anyone else ever have a similar problem?

If I don't wear a glove, I get a blister on my left palm.
Does that count?

On my tombstone: "If this is the worst thing that ever happens to me, I'm doing just fine!"

My wife had it, had minor surgery on the finger, and it is now fine.

I just started playing golf yesterday after a 5 year absence.

I hit the ball surprisingly well.

I did however hit 5 buckets of balls.

This morning, my fingers are sore and stiff. Its gotten better through the day.

I am assuming that my fingers are hurting because I had not hit a golf ball in 5 years and all of a sudden I decide to hit 5 large buckets at the range.

Right?

I developed a bout of tendinitis in my left wrist over the winter while implementing some swing changes. It's still a little stiff, but much better than it was in Jan-Mar.
I've spent most of my life golfing - the rest I've just wasted.

That's what it sounds like. It's never a good idea to hit 5 larg buckets in one day even if you have been playing awhile.

My injury isn't from golf, but it is affected greatly by golf, and causes me frequent pain.

A few months back I separated my right shoulder and I gets pretty painful if I swing too much.

I had minor trigger finger in my right pinky from using an interlocking grip... Probably improperly. When I first woke up in the morning (during the bleary still half-asleep stage) I could not bend it.. it would lock and unlock.. Then loosen up as I worked the joint. I switched to overlapping grip and no longer have any issues.

I also tweaked my back and neck pretty well. I was unable to play golf for a couple of weeks. Now I have adjusted my swing and no longer have any pain... thank goodness.

Most of what I've read on finger injuries for right-handed golfers seems to indicate the injuries are common on the left hand...

..I've got soreness and stiffness on my right hand, ring finger and pinky.. can't figure it out.

So I went to have my finger checked and my Doc injected my finger w/ cortisone - ouch! He said in some cases, it could take up to 3 injections - at least 3 months apart from one another. If that didn't work I could have a very minor surgery performed... Luckily, the 1st shot seems to have done the trick.
No more trigger finger

I spent too much time on the range last week and now am experiencing trigger finger in my left pinky. The finger just locks in the close position. Very annoying and makes it hard to type.

Unfortunately, my trigger finger came back and instead of getting another cortisone injection, I opted for the minor procedure. It only took about 15 minutes w/ local anesthesia. Doc says it'll take about 2wks to a month to heal. It was annoying trying to grip a club, definitely worsening my ability to play. I'll post updates on recovery.
