There is a formula error on your spreadsheet (even though I can't see the forumulas there has to be an error).  Given your lowest of last 20 differentials is a 12.0 and the rest of the round differentials are 17 and higher you can not have a running average of 11.5.

The average of your best 10 is 20.42 times .96 = 19.6 (which is pretty much the same as the index you have listed with your site info)

Regarding short courses, I'd suggest that you look up the rating and the slope on the USGA National Course database for every course you play.  Don't rely on the scorecards as I've found them to be occassionaly wrong.

Reidy Creek (possible the short course that lead to this thread?) for instance shows a rating and a slope on the scorecard, it doesn't really have a rating.  The course is less than 3,000 yards and therefore can't have a rating.  You can confirm this by looking it up on the USGA site and see that it is not lised.

No error. My running average HI is 19.6 and is always on line 22 which takes into account average of the lowest 10 of most recent 20; or lines 3 through line 12. (note the arrow). The 11.5 would be the running average if those were the scores  AT THAT TIME, because the first 6 rounds GHIN uses only the single lowest. To be technically correct, I could delete the column R entries 3 through 21 as they are no longer relevant, but they were as the data was being filled in on the early rounds. I just left them in should I decide to start a brand new spread sheet build so the forumlae would be intact. You are correct concerning Reidy Creek not having an official rating but only shows on the on-line score card.  You are also correct in that the 19.7 on TST site should be 19.6.  I  have not included Reidy Creek in the spreadsheet and you are also correct as that round being the reason for the post.  The whole bit about spread sheet came about owing to it being morphed by an response by another member. The spread sheet is far from perfect, and I could have labeled the columns differently, but it suits my purposes, is automated. Score cards are frequently wrong. Take at look at Boulder Oaks for example,       Some like it, some don't. Meh....

Oh, that's no problem. I probably was not that good at explaining it. It is really easy to use in person and I can see how it can be confusing the way I have it laid out. I found a way to hide all the data in the column that was no longer pertinent without losing the forumule and hopefully will eliminate some of the confusion. I also had to explain it to the others, but it would be taxing on someone else to have to read those posts. I do not know why the formulae do not show. The one person said on his end, that they were there. It probably has something to do with the way it is saved. Thank you  for taking the time to look it over.  In any event, I do not compete, so it really is a moot point. It just seems to suit my purposes and I like messing around with excel, or in my case Open Office (a free version of microsoft made by a company called Apache). It is supposed to be compatible with Excel, but some of the features do not work exactly the same.

For those who downloaded a copy of my speadsheet, I have modified it to make a little easier to understand. I hid those items that are no longer pertinent. The link provided previously should show the mod now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
