I am in dire need of help with my short game.  It includes anything 70 yards and in - chips, pitches, etc.  Anything not a full swing.  My problem is that I jab at the ball and don't finish the swing, almost like I'm trying to push the ball to the target.   My results are shanks or weak shots that get approximately 1/3 of the way to the target.  I am so frustrated and basically I feel like quitting golf because my results are so embarrassing.   Can anyone give me on any suggestions to help?  Tips, drills, etc. would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!!!!

Well, this rarely happens, but I give lessons at Chautauqua Golf Club (at the Learning Center there) and it's not too far from Rochester, where you live.

I'd be happy to help you out with that stuff.

Welcome to TST.

Welcome to TST.  In addition to the great links Erik posted, do you know your partial distances or are you guessing?  If you're, say, 55 yards out, what's your plan (regardless of whether or not you'll execute it successfully)?

One thing which really helped me on short game is striking a pose. That means after you hit you hold the pose you ended the stroke in. It will be more consistent and help you follow through better

I found out that I was pulling the club inside on my takeaway.   I seem to concentrate on pulling it straight back and things are much better.    Thanks for your help!
