The best set of irons was and always will be the Ben Hogan APEX II... sure they are blades and everyone complains about there being a small sweet spot... but they beautiful clubs and they feel amazing when you hit that sweet spot.

They don't feel any different than any other irons when struck on the sweet spot.

I drank the Eye 2 kool aid too and bought a set of BeCu irons with the zz lite shafts. Still have them. They must have been revolutionary in their day compared to the butter knives available from the competition then. Compared to almost any good OEM set this century though? Not so much. They're at least a club shorter, less accurate and forgiving than my current sticks (JPX 825 pros). I will say the build quality of the old Eye 2s was so much better than the G10s I was playing before tai started drinking the Mizuno Kool Aid.

Jmo, I love my titleist 735cm's, they have the best of both worlds, 3-7 irons are cb and 8-pw are mb,... The only thing I wish they did a bit different would be to have the 7 iron be a mb too, Plus I love the look of the irons when addressing the ball..

It is what it is

Wilson fg17 I bought these new in 1983, and I occasionally take them out for a spin. Surprisingly they aren't all that hard to hit. Perhaps it's because the head is so small that I focus more on the target and the strike then I do mechanics.
