I asked about whether 5 years of service was worth playing golf. I did not ask why haven't i got 10 offers yet. I didn't expect anything because that wasn't my question.

Man, you said…

I want some insight on what it takes to be a division 1 golfer. … I …need advice, hopefully from those that have done D1 golf. When should i contact coaches? what should i include in contact to them. (Swing video, etc) Thanks.

That was five days ago. Your post from a few hours ago reads like you are disappointed only to have gotten a few "basic emails." It reads like you've given up on attending a D1 school and are now asking for opinions on attending a military school.

In other words, it reads like you've given up on something you only started pursuing five days ago.

Nobody can decide for you if a military school is right for you. Though, if you're as quick to change your mind as it appears you may be, I would strongly advise against it.

I'll bow out now. It feels clear you don't want my feedback.

It's also worth mentioning that you don't simply "decide" to attend one of the military academies.  It's an extraordinarily competitive process that begins with obtaining an appointment from a member of congress.  From there it gets tough... ;-)

What would walking on be like?

I'll answer this one for you.  Walking on is a last resort. Contact coaches and department heads, whatever will get to them.  Some schools give out scholarships to their teams far before the season starts and, thus, before walk on try-outs.  This means the only way for you to make it that year is to beat their number 1 player.  Otherwise, you'd be benched until the following year, most likely.  Some DIV I schools have club golf you can do for a year, but you don't want to risk that I'm guessing.

If you are serious about playing DIV I golf, you need to do everything in the first half of this coming school year to contact teams.  But, really, if you don't have tournament experience to back up a +2 hdcp, it really doesn't mean anything and a coach won't take you seriously.  Every other kid trying to play DIV I golf is playing in high level tournaments.
