This is a difficult challenge.

My best round ever last week, shot 69 and broke par and 70, both for the first time, but included a 6!

Par 71, shot:

Front: 3,2,4,3,6,4,4,3,5

Back: 4,4,3,4,5,4,3,4,4

An eagle, 4 birdies, 9 pars, and 4 bogeys. Lots of luck: 110 feet of putts made plus a chip in, but missed a 4' putt for a par 5 on #5.

Posted a round today with no 6’s at Woodfin Ridge in Inman, SC. 35-38=73.

Front 443 533 445. Birdied the par 4 third and sixth hole. Came up short on the par 3 eighth for a bogey and finished the side -1.

Back 443 545 445 for a +2. Three putted the par 3 11th from 45’; birdied the par 4 12th; bogeyed the par  4 13th after hitting it over the green and hitting a poor chip; birdied the par 5 14th. On the next hole, their signature par 3 over Lake Bowen to a reverse Redan green I hit it short like I did on 8 and landed in the water. Re-teed and just ran through the green. Chipped to 4’ and made the double-bogey 5. Thinking I was +2, instead of +1, I thought I needed 2 birdies to shoot even. Hit it to 9’, 8’ and 10’ on the last 3 holes but missed all and lipped out on 16 and 18.

15 GIR, 9 fairways, 31 putts, 1 penalty shot. Putting stroke got a little flinch on 5 and had to use a claw for most of the round. Happy I was able to hold it together!

Managed this today. On most occasions when I have done so, it's been because I didn't think about it. Normally it pops into my head somewhere on the back nine and I'll think "oh I haven't made any 6s today" and in the next hole or two I'll make a six. Stupid game. Today on 13 I holed about a 4 foot putt for a five and it popped into my head. Never looked remotely like making a six after that either, so I was pretty pleased with it on this occasion.

Par in the first row then score in the second

443443545 434543444

443444545 544533453 for a 73(+2). Two birdies, four bogeys. It was in a qualifier and it looks like the birdie I made on 18 got me in. 10/14 fairways, 13/18 greens, 33 putts.

It’s been awhile since this topic had attention. I played 9 yesterday and was playing well and thought of this challenge. I didn’t have time for the full 18, but wanted to bump topic for new folks unaware

also a reminder of

these are fun to do and fun to watch for everyone!

Looking back at my tournament rounds this year, I've played 9 rounds. Of those, I have had no sixes in 4 of them, 1 six in 3 of them and two "others". One of the others I had 4 sixes and 1 seven and the other one I had two sixes and two sevens, so in 9 rounds I've had 12 holes more than 5. and 9 of those were in 2 rounds (one was raining on a course that I struggle on, the other was day 2 of a 2 day event and it was hot and I got very tired and had bunker issues - I think I hit 14 bunker shots in one round). The three rounds that I had one six in, there was one lost ball, one duffed pitch on a par 5 and one flubbed chip and missed 4 footer. Excuses excuses I know 🙂 All in all I'm pretty pleased with how I've played.

Had one of these rounds last Thursday.  Second one of the year.  Both were 15 par/3 bogey rounds without a birdie.

    • I have trouble with vertigo on occasion, but have gotten nutritional and biofeedback tips to keep it at bay. Dehydration can help trigger v-like symptoms so one recommendation, along with maintaining overall hydration, is to start with 8 oz. of water early in the morning. A meta-analysis on Golf As Physical Activity indicated that golf is rated as a moderately intensive physical activity. This scientific literature review came from the University of Edinburgh. The physical activity level ties into hydration. A former university colleague was a marathon runner who had published a couple of articles on endurance training. He likewise said that golf was a moderate physical activity especially when the round stretched past  the two-hour mark. For hydration he recommended switching from water to electrolyte drink on the back nine (past two hour point of exercise) to prevent cramping. At the two-hour point of moderate activity, water starts flushing electrolytes out of the body, which can lead to fatigue and cramping. (I have had trouble with leg cramps in the past during exertion.) During a round, I start out with water on the front nine and switch to sports drink on the back nine. If the day is unusually hot, I may drink 8 oz. of Pedialite concentrate before going to the course. Maintaining overall hydration plus on-course boosters keeps me going.
    • Personally I’d try booking direct first - either via the Vidanta golf reservations number/email or through the resort concierge - especially for Christmas/New Year. Vidanta’s main courses (Greg Norman and Nicklaus designs) are popular and can book out fast this time of year, so direct often gives you the best shot at your preferred tee times.
