I have a Garmin watch. But I also keeps notes in a pocket size notebook on the courses I play so now I know when and where to layup  and what club to use on blind shots to stay out of water and sand.

I also go to google earth and use the distance feature to get some clue on doglegs and blind shots.

I've been using a bushnell neo x watch. Has good battery life. Finds the course when I get there, it stays on and gives me front middle and back. As a 20'ish capper, thats all I need. I don't notice it on my wrist.

My wife uses a garmin s1-battery life isn't as good.

My buddy has a Garmin watch, and it is quite accurate. The only time it holds us up is when we are looking at our approach shots on the first hole since he always forgets to turn the damned thing on before we start! If I'm away I'll just go relying on dead reckoning rather than hold up play. It's how I learned to play anyway.
