Day 16: 12/26/2025

A little more mirror work today. Then out to the garage net.

The first part of my PPJ swing thought is really starting to stick. The J still takes some focus. Plus, I'm still putting a priority on getting all the way to my finish.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 237 (26 Dec 24) - played 18 with niece and her husband at one of the local courses.  We were first out - so we pretty had our own pace of play.  First few holes were a struggle, but the groove started by hole 5.  The green side wedge game kicked in - had several kick in up and down pars.  Best of the day - had my first ever sandie birdie on #9. It’s a neat par three with a pot hole bunker - found it off the tee.  Had about a 22yd shot from the bunker to the flag.  Hit an easy shot out with the 54 that hit softly and gently rolled center cup.  Had several other close wedge shots into others that were close but no hole out.  Was a great day with the green side wedge game - and seeing solid fruit from the drills.

Day 163: played 18 - a decent 78 considering I haven't practiced much putting or short game. Also did a stack session.

Day 17: 12/27/2024

Went to indoor minigolf with the family today. That counts as practice, right?
I mean, we all brought our actual putters, so in my mind it counts.

Day 88 - 2024-12-27

Practiced for two hours today. Mostly all backswing stuff while paying some attention to the path, just to make sure.

Day 238 (27 Dec 24) - Long day as our band played an end of the year community meal at a local church that doubled as a Samaritans Purse Western NC Helene relief fundraiser.  Was able work sone with the 50deg wedge - simple chips - nothing special as it was about reinforcing solid setup and controlling distances.

Day 18: 12/28/2024

Good day at the range today. Got to work hard on my priority piece. (The PPJ swing).

With a 7 iron or 6 iron in my hand I'm getting more of the right than wrong. Which is great progress.

I did a lot of block work again today. Right now I'm planning on adding in some random work next week.

(edited)

This was to post yesterday, guessing somehow I did not hit the submit button.  Anyway….Day 239 (28 Dec 24) - Weather was cooperative this afternoon, able to take grandson to the course for an afternoon 18.  Had a blast working with him - had a decent round - shot an 83 (7 pars (4 were up and down saves), 11 bogies, 31 putts total (no 3 putts or worse)). Best part was watching my 8 yr old grandson and the fluidity of his swing and the steadily growing confidence in his own game…

Day 19: 12/29/2024

Back in front of the mirror today. I actually took everything slower than usual today. I was trying to focus on my PPJ swing and also trying to be sure as it has sped up over the past weeks it hasn't gotten out of whack. I feel like it's pretty in whack, so I'm hoping to send some video to Yoda soon.

Day 346 - Back to full swings and my main priority, which is getting my chest up and my hips forward as I finish my swing. Mostly slow partials to get that feeling, but I worked up to slow, full swings.

Day 20: 12/30/2024

I've been working on my swing in front of the mirror today. Spent a lot of time at slow speed, mid speed and a couple at full speed.

I just came back in from the garage where I practiced my PPJ swing by hitting about 10 balls with the 6-iron into my net.

    • I really think it's just to keep people from doing silly stuff like saying "Oh, yeah, that spike mark will be my ball marker." or "That slightly greener blade of grass." Then when they go to replace their ball they have literally no idea which spike mark or blade of grass.

    • Not trying to be difficult, but did the USGA/R&A provide a rationale in 2016 for why the object needs to be artificial?  I would assume it is to make sure your mark is absolutely identifiable to you so you re-mark your ball in the correct location, and not accidently in a location where a similar natural object is sitting?  If that is the case, I would think that taking a natural object and humanly modifying it (drawing on it with marker, ripping it in half, etc) would be enough to make the object identifiable and turn the natural object into an artificial one.
