Day 7: 1/24/25

Weight shift drills followed by chipping and putting drills through 50 mm gates from 11”. Only hit 1 gate in 51 putts. Getting close!

Day 4 (24 Jan 25) - Two separate drills today - first the hanger drill with 8i in the mirror working on keeping the hanger in contact with the lead forearm thru backswing and into the downswing.  The second session was lag drills with the putter starting with overall pace from about 15’, getting the ball to die just at or past the auto-return cup, finishing with a version of the step dril - rolling to/thru a set distance (9’ - 7’ - 5’ - 3’).  Rolled sets of four balls at each - got good rolls…especially since I was not using my regular putter but the longer broomstick style one.

Day 44: 1/23/2025

Hit balls into the garage net today.
I hit balls working on my PPJ swing thought and my hip movements. I decided to do it all with the hybrid today rather than my usual 7 iron or 6 iron. 

Chipped balls in the basement again, hitting the SW and the LW to a couple of targets. 

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 5 (25 Jan 25) - the thaw has begun in earnest….was able to hit off turf and not snow  for a late afternoon backyard session.  Distance control with easy pitches - over the tulip tree from about 25 yds (happy with 6yd circle) and 10-15 yd shots to the pins (solid with the ball staying in a 2yd circle of the target point).  The super soft turf  made for some focused swings thru the ball…

Day 45: 1/25/2025

I wanted to do a lot today, but I was only able to get in a bit of putting practice with the mirror and the gates. I did some chipping in the basement early this morning as well.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs. 

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 117 - 2025-01-25

Long day. Did lots of chipping practice though.

Day 24 - 10 minutes of putting practice. Focused on 10' putts, distance control and getting past the hole with easy 2nd putts. 20 minutes of bump and run work, including some downhill bad lie chipping.

Day 192: just a bit of mirror work today. Working on the backswing stuff. Seems fairly solid - if the snow will melt, I can check it at the range. Going to be a bit though.

Day 118 - 2025-01-26

Got to GE at 7:15, so, lots of time to get some practice in before players arrived.

Day 6 (26 Jan 25) - Yard thawed enough to work with 6&7 irons in the backyard and hard foam balls.  Worked on “not tweaking” as shot shape was more of a push fade so the goal was to work on tempo and staying with the process.

Day 119 - 2025-01-27

Went to Golf Evolution for four hours this morning. Got about an hour of practice in, farted around a little bit, and cleaned up a little bit.

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there. 
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂 
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
    • Day 12 - 2025-12-31 Limited time today, and heavy rains here. 5-10 minutes of mirror work for full swing, working on trail side.
