Day 30 - just some indoor putting work during this atmospheric river that will keep me off the course for several days. Need to get some indoor putting tools.

-Chris Brooks

I've blogged about my wanderings since 2003. I love roaming throughout the USA looking for remote public golf courses to play.

Day 11 (1 Feb 25) - Easy day in the backyard, 50° wedge, Divot Board and a few regular golf balls.  Been hitting this wedge heavy - used the divot board to at/just past the ball.  Followed up with non-Board swings - much better contact.  Will be part of the backyard sessions for some time to come.

Day 200: first range day in over a month. Worked on my backswing feels and filmed a bit. Think it’s looking pretty solid. Then went to the putting green and filmed there to check out my stroke. I have some weird head movement going on there, so that’s something to work on. Productive session overall.

Day 1 - Frustrated I lost my streak, my fault for always practicing/posting so late in the day. Oh well, back to the basics for a fresh start; setup and grip were my main focus. I finished with partial swings, really holding the finish.

Day 52: 2/3/2025

I actually forgot to post yesterday even though I did some good stuff. That's my second miss since the streak started, but I think by the rules I'm okay.
Today I got to the range and worked my way through the bag. The range was crowded so I wasn't able to grab any video, maybe tomorrow. I'd like to send some to Yoda as I have another lesson with him the end of next week.
I spent a little bit of extra time with my new PXG Mini-driver.... I like it.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 13 (3 Feb 25) - long day with son’s ortho appt 2-1/2 hrs from home….got home this evening and wanted to get some time in, opted to roll some balls with Millie (the Odyssey AI One Seven T DB (way too long name)).  Started with lag putts to about 15’ (the max I can roll in the bedroom on carpet), trying to finish to within 2’ of the target cup (14 of 17); second drill used the putter cover as a “target cup” - set up balls (groups of 3) at varied distances from 4’ up to 8’ - hit the cover solid (make the putt), miss well it’s a missed putt (made 9, missed 8); last drill - stack the ladder - rolled the first to about 14’, then made successively shorter rolls trying gap anywhere 10-20”.  Had about 6 that lightly kissed the previous ball, but no rolls past….fun mix of work on distance control with the ol’ flat stick.

30 balls or so. A few at 185 yards. Most at about 160-165 (6I). Path was outward on all of them.

Putting through 50 mm gates. Made the first 9 rounds of 3 balls from 11” and then concentration wandered. Still a good session.

Day 14 (4 Feb 24) - Nice break in the weather - temps in the 60’s so it was set the net back up today in the backyard time. Was good to make some full swings with 7i and driver.  Wrapped up the day with easy pitches with the 7i and the 50° from 15 to 20 yds focused on setting up to a set target point and making smooth contact thru the ball and finish

Practiced a good bit. All paths were right. I was hitting balls on the 6th at "Georgia Golf Club" as a range.

    • Day 27 (17 July 26) - Normally an 18 hole day, but due to commitments abbreviated the round to 9 holes (played the back nine at home course).  Had a solid session where even the worst miss (tee shot off 18) was fully playable.  Shot a solid 39 (6pars, 3bogies) - not dbls, no three putts - just boring golf.
    • Overall, well said. People have to be very careful in trying to describe very complex problem in simple terms. In this case, it is a clear fundamental misunderstanding of Newton's 1st and 3rd laws.  To clarify more on the misinterpretation of Newton's 1st law. The exact interpretation of Newton's 1st Law....  "Every body continues in its state of rest, or of uniform motion in a straight line, unless it is compelled to change that state by forces impressed upon it" yea, a body will stay motionless unless a force acts upon it. An object will stay on its path of motion unless a force acts upon it.  I get it, complex physics problems are difficult. There is a lot of simplification done in most physics class when it is taught. A classic problem uses a frictionless surface. Projectile motion excludes drag and wind direction. Collisions are usually elastic. The golf swing is not a simple physics problem.  Yea, I think they got caught up the data on the graphs and are not truly understanding cause and effect.  If the golfer isn't first pushing into the ground, then the ground isn't going to push back.  The internal forces of the body create the motion, not the external forces from the ground. The ground isn't like what Psy uses to start his concert. 🤣 You probably need to be connected to the ground and have those GRF to help the body produce the motion you want. Your body has to move in the right way to produce the GRF which helps you move the body in the way you want. Body motion precedes the GRF.
