Day 17: did mirror work while watching TV. Working on wrist feels.

Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).

Day 7 (13 Aug 25) - 7:30 tee time for nine holes as a guest of an old friend…course fairways were  severely dew laden…made for some clubbing up and rethinking iron shots into the greens…played back a set of tees and it was fun rethinking club choices.

Mental rehearsals today for about 15 minutes as I'm kinda screwed up in some way. 😞

Day 18: a little under the weather, so just some mirror work while watching TV.

Day 3 (August 13).  4' putting drill;  this is a modified version of the drill from LSW for short putting.   For context, in 2025, my strokes lost putting is more than 2 per round compared to the 15 handicap baseline, just on putts under 10'.  So that's a glaring weakness I think.  Anyway, so I set up 12 markers around a hole like a clockface, all coins, all face up.  I putt from each in turn, if I make it, I flip a heads over (or pick up if it's tails).  This means I have to make 24 putts eventually, ideally quickly.  It took me 38 attempts to do this, although 9 of the 12 coins were picked up either in the first or second go around.   Anyway, the baseline for a "90-golfer" (per Broadie description) is 37 attempts, so that's pretty good, but I'll keep trying to improve.  For anyone thinking about this, the number would be 30 for an average scratch player.   This was done on a real green at a nearby course's practice area.

Day 4 (August 14).  Full swing in my indoor practice room;  6-iron, off a mat, into a net.  Focus was on what I believe was my priority piece at last lesson (which, admittedly, was almost three years ago, due to absence).  I hit about a dozen balls this morning before going into the office. 

(Also, errata to yesterday:  9 of the 12 coins were picked up on the second or third go around -- you can't pick up one on the first go around for that drill)

Day 318 - 2025-08-14

Feeling much better today, so I worked on my short game before and a little during a lesson.

Day 8 (14 Aug 25) - Weekly nine hole round with my good friend Mike.  As they are punching the greens, we were limited to the front nine - pre-punch.  Greens crew had not cut them so they were a little slower, overall a good driving session, approach game was a little off, putting decent.  The best part - playing from the whites, ones set back, score was on level with my regular tees.  Love changing the scenery.

Day 19: still not feeling great. So, just a bit of mirror work again. Need to get better practice in this weekend.

15min practice using mirror and foam ball. Worked on grip and backswing length.

Day 319 - 2025-08-15

Got some work in before lessons. Not a lot, but >> 5 minutes. So I'm counting it.

Day 20: range session tonight. About an hour. Did 20 minutes of putting, all on putts from 3-9 feet. Then about 45 minutes of full swing. Messed around with the HackMotion, which was interesting. Finished with good work on line and curve. Need to open my stance up slightly to avoid aiming right.

Day 5 (August 15) - hit about three dozen balls with a focus on setup.  Balls were hit slowly, with checkpoints -- the manner of practice I know I should do!  Check that I set up right from face-on, from down the line, and then make sure I take the club back correctly.  The focus on setup comes from what I believe my priority pieces are.

Day 320 - 2025-08-16

Played nine. First tee shot was a bit hurried and not great. Hit a lot of good shots, though, with the feels. Trend is good.

Went to the driving range for the first time in a while. Practiced grip in fingers, head position(not turning it in backswing )and shorter backswing. Couldn't get tripod setup with the room I had so mostly focused on grip and head movement.

Day 21: did a stack session. Also had a short short game session at the practice green. Wind was really strong, so not an ideal session, but got some decent chipping work in.

Day 6 (August 16).  Twice today, I managed to find 10 minutes to hit balls (indoors).  Same priority pieces as yesterday.  Might have hit as many as a dozen total, but they were good rehearsals and practices.
