Day 49 10-2
Setup and backswing(length) practice over lunch. Setup could still use a little work but it's getting better. Something I just have to grind into muscle memory.  Recorded down the line. Did not hit any balls.  Hoping to do some full swings tonight when everyone goes to bed. Want to practice new backswing with flow feeling.

Day 28 (October 2).  I get to post in red text again!

Today was only ten minute break to hit balls, my routine as before.  Some with a 6-iron, the rest with a hybrid.  I'm having to reset a lot less than a few days ago (that's to be expected).

Day 367 - 2025-10-02

Dialed in the backswing. And grip. I can't keep going back to f***ing around with that because when I do that I can't play golf. I can have a C+ downswing and still hit the ball, though.

Day 30 (02 Oct 25) - Drills grandson style - we had pulled the flags to the holes cut in the backyard while mowing - his game: try to pitch to a “blind hole” - we were hitting from 10 - 25yds for a hole out. Note - the grass was cut to “fairway height”- so the holes were not obvious to the eye.  It was a great drill on major distance control.  We both got some close,, but no aces today.  Still this drill put a lot of emphasis on technique and visualization….

Day 50 10-3

Worked on on backswing length and setup(pressure more towards front of foot). Today I incorporated the "flow" drill into the setup and shorter backswing pieces. No balls hit, just recording the setup/backswing.

Day 29 (October 3).  Today's lunch break included 20 minutes to hit balls, mostly with a 6-iron.  On the backswing, I'm feeling more comfortable with pushing my back hip (that's how it feels at least) without locking out my right knee.

Day 31 (3 Oct 25) - Weekly men’s group shootout with a twist for me, as I played the Tommy Armour 845s Silver Scots.  As these are a full club weaker than my regular clubs, it was about playing a club stronger. Love this type of challenge to adapt (even when it’s by choice) as it makes shot selection and planning more involved.

Day 368 - 2025-10-03

Played 17 holes (we skipped 2 as it's off mats and two people in front of us were clearly going to be very, very slow). Eagled 3 and birdied 18 for the birdie challenge.

Practiced chipping with a strike wedge at 2”. Hit a few shallow but hit much steeper towards the end with only two poor strikes.

Day 51 10-4

Hit off mats at the driving range. Primary focus was shorter backswing and weight distribution in setup. It was good to see I don't need to have a long backswing to hit the ball any distance.

Day 30 (October 4).  Putting practice in the late morning, this time from 4'.  My usual drill:  put 12 coins around.  I have yet to make 12 in a row from 4';  that's an eventual goal of course.  Instead, I require myself to make all 12 twice.  I track by putting all the coins face-up initially and going around the circle, attempting from each station.  If I make the putt, I turn the coin over (if it was heads-up) or I pick it up (if it was tails-up).   I count my total number of putts to complete this.

Today, the number was 33 (that is, took 33 attempts to complete 24 makes), good for a 72.7% make rate (about halfway between the 65% we expect from a bogey golfer and the 80% from scratch).   However, today had several firsts (or, at least, first-I-remember) for me.  Every coin was tails-up when I began the third go-around (except for the ones I picked up on the second go-around, of course).  I didn't need a fifth go-around (and had only two coins left on the third).  In the past, there is usually a station that I just can't make fall.

Hopefully this is a sign my putting practice -- albeit lacking the past two weeks -- is going to pay off.  It is somewhat frustrating to exceed the 10 handicap baseline off the tee and on approach, be around there on short game, and lose shots to a 25 handicap baseline with my putting inside 10'.

Got some work in after lessons. Back of the right hand has to (feel like it) starts down first.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
