I guess it depends on were you live, but if you have a golf store near you that can fit you these irons I would go there an try them out side by side.

It's hard for anyone to say, "Yea, go with that." I personally do not like Titleist irons. I know there are people who will buy the new Titleist irons every year. They are good clubs, they do not work for me.

I am 60 in a few days, 14.9 index.

I am just a little bit of a Titleist fanboy, but think other brands are great as well-I just like Chevy better than Ford. ( I have some Callaway in my bag as well)

I have the 718 AP1s, and like them a lot. You likely don't need that much forgiveness and the lofts would probably be stronger than you need as well. (5 iron is 24*) I would think the AP3 would be more to your liking; the lofts are about a degree or so weaker through the set (actually the same as the 716 version of AP1), and the forged AP2s are about another degree or so weaker-5 iron is 27* I think.

My golf buddy has one of the Mizuno JPX 900 versions and loves them. I think there are 3 versions of those as well, with somewhat similar differentiation as the Titleist AP series.

Thanks for reply dbuck I don’t change clubs very often and looking down the road. Hope what I buy now I can still play with 5 years from now not getting any younger. I like titlest products but I guess I won’t know until I hit so just trying to feel out some of the older guys in the forum for feedback.

Thanks

Thanks for reply have been playing for 45 plus years also did demo for mizuno years ago I know I will hit many clubs soon to see what I want just trying to get a feel of what some of the older guys are using

Another thing you might want to consider is the fact your swingspeed probably isn't going to go up during the next years.

So if you want to play the new clubs for a longer time, you could also think about getting irons that give you a little more distance to make up for the loss of distance you may see when getting older.

    • Played Sunday at my home course and shot an 83.....with four 3 putts.   So that is at least promising.   Played Men' Night last night (9 holes) and was Even after 7.....but then had a tough bogey and a terrible double to finish +3.   Either way.....I like the way things are trending.
