I use a Taylor Made Ghost Spider and really do not understand the method or reasoning for adjusting the weights.  Does anyone have a good article to explain it? I understand more weight make heavier etc but any reasoning behind putting more or less weight in the toe versus the heel and vice versa?

Generally you won't want to do that too much - it will shift where the sweet spot is on the putter. Not much, but it will shift it some.

The forces and torques in a putting stroke are incredibly small, so changing the weights to favor the toe or heel won't have much actual effect on your stroke.
