I'm looking for some help / instruction / coaching - I'd like to make a few changes and work on full swing mechanics . I would love to find a good instructor and work through out the up coming season

Anyone know of  or worked with an instructor they would recommend ? - Needs to be on Long Island , want to keep travel time to a minimum [ long Island can be over an hour drive depending on where ]

Not looking for the " big name " guys - but willing to pay for good solid instruction

Can't remember his name, but the guy at Smithtown Landing is always Top 100 nationally. Darrel Kestner is good. Bethpage has guys that have been there forever....

Mike Jacobs?   Darrel Kestner  & Jacobs are probably very good  but they are very busy .  Be nice to find a less known instructor that has some insight ... I've worked with busy pro's,  one eye on you and one on the clock !

I took a lesson with Mike Hebron (assume that's the well known pro at Smithtown), but it was so long ago, forgot what he told me and back then, I knew nothing compared to now, he wasn't working with much.

I've been searching for a good pro in LI forever, no love, regular pro is in NJ. I looked at Jacobs' site and read about him, the marketing is a turn off (and rates as well), for me, YMMV.

Hebron sounds right - I agree for all the Golfers & courses here on L. I. not many decent instructors .  Plenty of cookie cutter , teaching beginners but don't ask them about swing plane  or angle of attack etc..

I have had a recent assistant pro that made an effort and it was appreciated but he wound up just trying various band aids - not what I'm looking for

I've been using a range in LI for awhile, and only recently, I guess a year ago, did I notice the instructors started bringing in tripods. @iacas and his peers have been using them, like, forever.

Yes Hebron. My friends told me to go to his one day school when I started playing 8 years ago. Best part of the day was the hamburger lunch. 20 or so players, all different skill levels. Looking back. If not for one of his young assistants, I wouldn't have left with anything more then him showing me how well he could hit a left handed 8 iron.

Some years ago I was following via a forum a guy taking lessons from Rick Nielsen at Turtle Cove golf center (Pelham Bay park)  and that seems really good. I don't know if that qualifies for being in LI for you.
