What's the effect of adding weight to my putter?

I like adding weight to the head of my putter too. It helps do a couple of things:

  • It provides a better connection to the head which improves speed and distance control
  • Helps the putter swing more like a pendulum
  • The head naturally "gates" through the stroke and squares to the target which helps eliminate the most common miss - short & right

Depends on your putting stroke. I do think modern putters are too light. In combination with backweighting the club, it can help with distance control.
