I've been Playing Golf for: 4 years
My current handicap index or average score is: 16.7
My typical ball flight is: High draw
The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Topped shots/thin shots

Im a former slicer who now struggles with good ball contact, i never take divots and a lot of my iron shots are thin or topped. These videos are around 2 weeks old and ill try and capture som more with better angles the next couple of days.

Your weight isn't very far forward at impact:

I'd work on that. It's Key #2.

Not necessarily. Why more "twist?" How about pushing your hips forward and not letting your head tip way back?

Key #2 man. Weight well forward at impact.

There's a bit of a start.

Had a bit of a range session today. Sliding was difficult, maybe its because i used to slide a lot in the start of my backswing? I did end up getting better contact today after putting a bit more pressure on my left foot. Dont know if its the right thing to do but it works until i can learn to put my centre of mass more forward.

Okay so ive been working hard and ive really improved my contact. Dont have any video to prove it but hey if its working.. My problem now is that my shots go really high ( around 44 yards according to trackman ) and that combined with my superhigh spin numbers ( some shots are 8000-9000 ) means that im getting robbed of distance if theres wind involved.

I went to my local fitter and he said that its time to change to Stiff shafts, but im wondering what my dynamic loft should sit at with a 35 degree 7 iron? I was averaging around 27-28 degrees and he said that its fine, could be a tad lower but not a problem. So new sticks with stiffer shafts or keep working on my swing? My SS with my 7 iron was around 89 mph. @iacas

I think your right elbow is getting stuck behind you a little bit on the backswing.

Yes i can see that aswell, in my first year of golf i had a really long backswing. So ive shortened it down quite i bit. But what would the pros of a free right elbow be? Im finally in a spot where my contact is ok, good inside to out swingpath and speed is increasing as im more comfortable in my swing.  Just want to know before i start to tweak more stuff 😁@Grizvok

Watch the video. It explains what can happen.

I'm also of the opinion that it is total death for a golfer and really a person in any sport to settle for the motion they are currently making. I mean why would you unless mediocrity is what you are after? I know for sure that @iacas would be baffled by that notion. I'm not trying to put words in his mouth, but he is a golf coach after all. They don't typically just see a decent swing and say okay keep practicing that same exact thing. They assist you in making incremental changes that take your game to the next level. If PROFESSIONALS on the tour are still working on their swing we all should that's for damn sure.

While I agree with what you wrote, it's important to remember to work on one thing at a time. A person will have more success without being overwhelmed, and failing to improve can lead to frustration in this game.

Generally, I would prioritize solid contact before accuracy issues. That's probably why the Keys are ordered the way they are. It's kind of pointless to learn to hit it straighter if you still chunk or top every fourth shot.

Ofc i want to get better, its just that my knowledge of golf isnt as good as it is in other sports. Right now i am not swinging OTT, according to trackman i was hitting it around 2-3 degrees from the inside. What i was wondering was will this help me get better contact? Accuracy is not what i am suffering from right now, ofc im not hitting 18/18 GIR, but theres a lot of stuff that i feel hamper my game before accuracy.

I totally agree. He just said something a bit ago that was strange which was “So new sticks with stiffer shafts or keep working on my swing?”

I wasn’t sure how to take that phrase. It seemed to me like he thought he was close to the point where he shouldn’t change anything regarding the actual swing and that new clubs were the answer to any problems which I think is a huge mistake.
