The main factor is looks at address. I prefer a classic style, neither too open or closed. I don't like drivers that look like a frying pan attached to a stick, or  something out of star wars. Shafts, grips, etc, can all be easily changed these days. The distance of each driver is relatively the same, since they are all manufactured to the limit of USGA standards. I just have to feel comfortable with it at address.

It always comes down to personal preference, but if I can hit it long and straight, I don't care about who makes the club, what it feels like, the sound it emits, or anything else.  I don't care if the shaft is stiff, regular, senior, ladies or made out of steel, graphite, wood, or bamboo.  I don't care if its Taylor Made, Ping, Callaway, Tittleist or some off brand made in Peru,  if it's conforming and I hit it consistently straight and long, I"m good......That said, I know sound, appearance, brand and other things ARE important to many golfers and that's fine.  If that's what makes the game more enjoyable for them, then those are factors they need to consider.

I'm with you, straight is my main concern, I don't care who makes it. I found a Ping G which was used as a demo driver at Golfsmith when they were closing, hit it straight in the store on the launch monitor so I purchased it. It was like new and I got it for $225 like two years ago. I am having trouble on the course with it now, (go figure), and I'm thinking of taking 3/4" of the length of the shaft (at the butt end). Bottomline, straight is all I care about. I hit all drivers about the same distance.
