Hello all. Passionate golfer here. Just decided to join the forums and be a part of the discussions more and learn more. Just picked the game back up after taking about 6 years off. 31 years old playing around the Columbia, SC area. Back to a 12 handicap already after just this summer so time to polish off the driving and distance control on irons. Glad to be here and look foward to chatting with you guys.

    • I appreciate the kind words, @ChetlovesMer! I have had my weeks where nobody wanted my scores!
    • Day 349 - All this focus on pitching, I decided to work more on chipping today. Given the ground conditions, I'll be chipping more than usual.
    • I agree.  I once played an inter club match, before the change,  and one of our opponents used a small flat seashell for a marker.  At some point, my partner picks up that shell, thinking it was just a small piece of debris.  An argument ensued, and to be honest I don't remember the result.  But requiring an artificial marker eliminates that kind of misunderstanding.
    • I think it's just to provide clarity. If you marked your ball with a pebble or a small twig, that's a loose impediment, and someone else could move it. An "obstruction" or a man-made thing, or an artificial thing, isn't a loose impediment.
    • Day 243 (2 Jan 25) - Grandson directed drills today - he wanted to hit easy pitches into the holes of the Martin bird house (had it at ground level) - it is doable but it calls for a perfectly executed shot.  He came close a couple of times.  For me it’s about distance control and such.  Drill two - me hit same foam balls to him while he’s in the swing saucer - into a slight wind…now it’s distance control plus anticipating the wind.  A fun exercise - got really close on a number of shots.  Drill three - take his youth Cobra SW and hit flops into to the foam ball basket while he was holding it. Great eye-hand work for him - wedge control for me.  That little wedge  works well.  By the end my junior coach was done and I was too….
