Hi all, finally I have reach the day where I can upgrade my trusty old half-self cavity back iron. I have use it for 3 years and perhaps it time to get a full set. I have no idea what iron to get. Anyone have recommendation on iron for my handicap (16.4)? Will want to work hard to lower my handicap, so the iron must be suitable for the next 3 years at least. I am not very rich person.

Thanks.

Hi, recently I saw a Ping S59 Pro Stiff set on sales. Price wise not bad. Heard from many, Ping produce good iron. So though it could be a good club. Any view or comment on it?

The Ping S59's are amazing clubs!

I don't know what your budget is, but you might want to check out the AP1 irons from Titleist. You would have to wait until next month, but if you are looking for clubs with the latest technology, these might satisfy your needs. They are the most "user friendly" clubs Titleist has made in a long time (according to people who have already tried them) and golfers with your handicap are the target demographic.

If you are looking for a cheaper set, look at Callaway X-18s...you can find them new for under $500. The entire X series line from Callaway would be a good place to look.

xdevilx: i am from perth western australia and recently went to singapore in january. what is the best place to buy golf stuff in singapore? i went to vivo city and another big centre with golf house, and they seemed very expensive. a ping g10 driver was like 1000 singapore dollars which is about 800 australian, and in australia it goes for about 500.

I would suggest anything from Mizuno, Titleist, and Callaway. Depending on what your strong suits are, the pick the appropriate irons. My strength is actually my iron play so I chose the mp-32s. I lose most of my strokes off my tee shot and putting. Had a round of 39 puts the other day and shot 87 on a par 72.

Mizuno MP-32 are an excellent set of forgiving blades. MP-60 are even more forgiving. MP-57 even more so, but I had trouble pulling the ball because of the offset when I test hit those. Mizuno makes quality, great looking irons.

The new line of Titleists seem interesting. AP1, AP2, ZM and ZB Forged blades. I would definitely test those if I were you.

Callaway clubs are always reliable. If think you can hit blades, the soon the be released X Muscle irons seem like they might be worth the wait. X Forged is a great set also. They come standard with Project X Flighted Rifle shafts.

I would say get fitted for the clubs you want to purchase at a place you trust.

Check out Golfsmith's P2 heads. At $11 per head have them shafted with something that fits your swing (get fitted). Classy looking player style cavity back with forgiveness. Could be in your bag for many years to come!

Here's a couple links. They're polished eccept for the cavity itself.

Yea I have the best set of irons that nobody talks about....These irons are one of the most forgiving irons of all time and they are very cheap. The distance of these clubs go further that anything today because the face is the lightest in golf. They are on ebay for really cheap

They are the Adams Tight Lies GT irons--the original ones check them out

"People think the size of the head is most important. Wrong. It's getting a quality shaft. test different shafts to see which goes the straightest. Also, more degrees of loft on the head is better than less. Eleven degrees is about right."

What shot shape do you have?

Do you like offset irons are little offset irons?

Look on Ebay...I bought some Titilest 704cb irons for $180, what i would have built by Ping according to a green dot (which would be my fit (1/2" long, 2 degrees upright))

LOVE the clubs that a few years ago were probably $600 or $700 plus???

LOTS of deals on Ebay.

Lower your 16 handicap quicker with irons that do not have a lot of offset the way i see it. you will become more of a shot maker (draw..fade...etc..)

Hi there, there is not a really good place to buy golf club. In Singapore, everything is quite expensive so not really worth it to buy it here. If not, I won't not have decide to have import it from the state. After delivery fee, it still much cheaper than Singapore price.

---------------------------------------------------- Anw, to all thanks alot for your help. Have decided to get a Cobra Carbon CB. Tried it in Singapore before and seem to be a solid club for me. Not a player irons but not a super game improvement iron oso. Middle club so it should be good.

I saw someone earlier post the Nike Pro Combo OS. I would recomend these to anyone looking to improve their game and get closer to a "players" club. I play those irons and absolutely love them. I have enjoyed them since the day I got them in 2006. They fit my swing perfectly.

They are currently selling for $299 here, which is why I have already purchased a second set for when my current set needs replacing...
