Okay i am biased here but my favourite is Kerry in Ireland Great mix of courses and fabulous scenery. I'm sorry to say i have only played Golf in Florida in USA and can't say that it was that memorable. I also enjoy Portugal, and would love to go to South Africa and New Zealand to play.

I haven't done a lot of travel for golfing purposes so I, like krutt, am biased to my home state of North Carolina. There are some great courses and good golf for very reasonable rates.

Fairways and Greens.

I thought everyone knew, Northern California is where it's at!! Just tune in to the Pro-Am and you'll see.

Of course, I may be biased.

Have not played overseas but S.E Queensland has plenty of good quality courses in a fairly small area, including the one Karrie Webb is playing this weekend.

Haven't traveled a whole lot for golf, but I think golf in the midwest as a whole is very overlooked. We may not have oceans, palm trees or year round golf like FL or CA, but we do have things they don't have. Especially here in the Chicagoland area, there are so many great courses, and it's not all flat like you might think, it's very green, hilly, and 100 year old Oaks that other areas just don't have. www.oakgrovegolfcourse.com is my favorite, and I highly recommend it to anyone. Plus the people here are friendly, down to earth, and just as fanatical about golf as anyone else.

Northern Michigan... glaciers carved out some seriously rolling terrain. Also, most course are carved out of the woods and you feel like each hole is alone, very few parrallel fairways. Absolutely beautiful in the fall, but can be a little chilly. Price is great because of competition. We also have some nice links like courses near Lake Michigan. Good architects too...

The courses I have played in NC are very nice as well...

Florida is not memnorable, I agree with the above poster.

I agree, and I am planning to discover that KENTUCKY (which I surmise is both Midwest AND Southern, since it is coined "the gateway to the south") has the best golf in the Nation. Because I am moving there. Next Month! YESSSS!!

Until I do discover that. . . my favorite state to play golf in is New Mexico. Specifically Black Mesa, Paako Ridge, and Las Campanas, both sides.

I'll give my bias to NY. From the glitzy courses on Long Island to the vastly underrated in the Rochester area (many Rochester area golfers won't put Oak Hill in the top 3 courses in the Rochester area) and the solid selection of course in the Central NY area. You can find a variety of courses from links style to parkland and from hilly to flat.

I travelled out to British Columbia, Canada last year and they had some beautiful courses. But I guess just the ability to play golf anywhere is great. I am sure every country and every state has their own gem.

I've played all up and down the East Coast of the US and my vote would have to go to South Carolina. From Myrtle Beach to Kiawah to Hilton Head --just for shear volume it needs to get serious consideration.

Depends on Georgia. If you're near Atlanta, forget about it. To play decent courses in the Atlanta area you will pay a premium $$$ and fight terrible traffic. It's one of the biggest reasons why I'm looking to move this year.

I am suspicious of this post, Like PZ is trying to hide the goods from the rest of us. . . what's REALLY going on in OR?? Bikini-clad hotties serving beer and and pizza at every hole? Someone should second Poo's words-or rebut them!

    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
    • What’s better for golf pilates or yoga?
    • I'm halfway thru 11.22.63 and I'm really loving it. It's only eight episodes. It came out in 2016, but has found new life since Netflix got it recently. I hesitate to say it's good, but I'm really enjoying it. I hope it ends well.   I'm nine episodes into Death Note, and that's been great too, also on Netflix. It's free on YouTube. I feel like that's been a legitimate good story so far. Not sure how long YouTube leaves it up, but here's the series (37 episodes of like 20 minutes each).
