Beginning with this year’s championship at Pebble Beach, USGA CEO Mike Davis is voluntarily stepping away from his longtime lead role in setting up the golf course at U.S. Opens.

Good move. Let a guy focus mostly on this, not being CEO and also doing the grunt work of course setup. I'm sure Mike Davis will still have a lot of input, he just won't be the point man in charge.

Agreed. This needs to be the main/priority role for someone other than the CEO. That did not make sense anyway.
