I'm working on an Excel spreadsheet that could use some of your opinions.   I've got the spreadsheet the way I like it tracking most of my golf data but I want to graph GIR, nGIR, average GIR, average nGIR and differential.   I want to show the relationship beetween my differential each time I play and nGIR/GIR.

A busy line graph doesn't seem to work.   Suggestions?

Why not use differential on the x axis, and each of the other stats on the y.  I'd use points, not lines, but that would show the relationship between each stat and the resulting differential.  Of course you'd be ignoring the dates, but you'd still have the data.

I'll give it a try...Good idea..  The date really isn't too relative if I'm working with the last 20 scores..   Thanks

Good luck.  I haven't worked a lot with Excel graphs, but you may be able to get some type of regression fit line for each data set.  Of you can just eyeball your own line in.

That looks better, have you tried "trend lines" in your graph?

Not yet.   It's still a work in progress.   Thanks for the suggestion.

What is your differential comparison?
Are you comparing each round to "Average of NGIR and GIR" of rounds?

I want to show a comparison between  nGIR/GIR and differentials.    I know there is a direct correlation but I just wanted to chart it and play with the latest 20 rounds per my handicap.     I don't spend a whole lot of time with the graphs but it's fun to play with.

Sorry, I'm not quite grasping what you deem as "differentials"
Are you saying the differentials between (example - Diff between Ngir in round 20 to last round played and the same for Gir)
Then graph indicating a Diff line for the 20 lines for each?

Example - Round 20 = 10 Ngir, 8 Gir Round 19 = 6 Ngir, 12 Gir

I'm charting the last 20 rounds.  The calculated differential (score, rating, slope) of each round vs. the actual nGIR and GIR.

OK, got it. So you want to make 3 trend lines. Diff - nGIR - GIR

Or chart comparison of Diff & nGIR on top of graph and bottom of graph Diff & GIR using 4 lines?

Here is a trend chart I made. I'll send you the file TMR to look at if this is what you are looking at doing.

You could show all 20 most recent rounds, rather than the 4 categories I show.

That was what I had in mind, and it shows the expected trends pretty well.

@Club Rat, he was looking to explore the relationship between a specific stat (nGIR, for instance ) and overall scoring (as expressed by the differential used in handicap calculation).  The order in which the rounds were played isn't a part of the chart.

(edited)

As @DaveP043 suggested, I'm not really interested in the date just the overall data and trend.    I'm still open to something different or improved.

Let me say I'm grateful to @Club Rat for his help with the initial spreadsheet setup.  I've tweaked it to my use, added newer functions and made it mine but he started me on the correct path.
