You'd be surprised.  Last time I checked at Pinehurst the trail fee was $1,950 a year and unlimited carts were $2,000 single or $3,000 for a couple.

I'm rarely surprised by outliers, because I assume they exist.

Those are likely outliers. I've seen trail fees of $200, even $400, and that's for the year (admittedly in an area where the season is 7-9 months). It depends, I'm sure, on how the courses make their money. If carts are bundled, there's really no incentive to charge a high trail fee. If they're a big revenue stream, there's much more incentive. A local club here will even discount your membership if you have and use your own cart.

P.S. Also, a trail fee covers one cart, which can carry two people.

P.P.S. Plus, again, you get to walk. It's not just about $.

I have tried a Kangaroo remote a couple times, and I kind of liked walking without my hand on the cart. Anyone have recommendations on remotes with a lower price ($2500) than the Kangaroo?

Club Car Tempo Walk:  That looks really cool!  I've seen that technology in a bigger scale/machine and it carries 4 bags for the foursome.

I'm imagining that the topic device has some type of control for it to stop following you as needed.

Anyway, other than it looks bulky to lug around from course to course, this technology looks like something I would like.  I've owned a battery powered caddy for many years now- early 2000.  It's low tech- on/off switch and an analog speed control.  I like that it gives the caddy effect while hands free.  The uphill walks are easier than with my ClicGear for sure- especially on windy days.  I wish I had something like this.

You wouldn't be lugging it around, presently it's being marketed only to golf courses for use as a rental.

At Whispering Pines unlimited carts are $125 a month, trial fee is $107.

Yep.  My club is pretty similar.  Break even between ala carte and pay as you go cart fees is about 100 rounds per year, with trail fees about the same for the year-round season here...

    • A study done by the European Tour shows spending less time over the ball produces better shots.  This makes sense. I can see where if you are over the ball a long time you lose the ability to make a more athletic swing. There is also the possibility of just overthinking the shot while over the wall as well and not being in the right headspace.
    • I recently picked up a vintage Ping Hoofer Lite carry bag.  I am not sure how old it is but estimate it is probably from around 2012 or so? I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps! I am going to try to attach a picture of the bag and will also describe it below. I cannot figure out how to adjust the straps in a way that makes the bag comfortable to carry.  The bag also seems to want to be more upright/ vertical than how you would normally carry a bag like this. I have tried to search this site and others on the web but almost all info is on the newer ping Hoofer bags which have quite a different design. The bag is pretty minimal in terms of pockets and has no handle on the top.  It has 2 backpack straps that are not connected to each other.  They are connected to the top of the bag and in the middle of the bag above the primary ball/ gear pocket. Any feedback appreciated, thanks for your help!
