I can't get this to work with MBP, I know the ethernet connection works, tried it with an older MBP. When connected, the lights are showing that it's working, the blue light flashes intermittently indicating something is being sent across the wire, but in Preferences > Network, showing not connected. Tried renewing the DHCP license several times, also deleting and re-adding the entry in Network and also manually typing in IP addresses and subnet mask. Contemplating getting the Apple version, will try Genius Bar as well.

You sure the USB-C port isn't just a USB-C port, or that it's not being read as a DisplayPort, or a whatever?

USB-C ports are kind of a mess right now, with peripherals, since they jammed ThunderBolt and other things into it, too.

It’s a MacBook Pro 2017 13” adorable, the one without the touchbar. It seems other people have gotten it to work if I’m reading the discussion boards correctly.

Apple makes a USB-C Ethernet dongle too, maybe they’ll try that at the Genius Bar.

It was the dongle. The Belkin dongle worked at the Apple Store. So I bought one and it works at home. The Anker Dongle from Amazon was $15. The Belkin dongle from the Apple Store was $40. I also installed a driver update for the Anker, to no avail. Whatever, I got it to work, this time all it took was $$$. I've had pretty good experiences with Anker products - cables, adapters, but this, not so much. The experience has diminished Anker's reputation in my eyes.

I have had problems with non-Apple USB-C adapters working a bit then going out. Belkin adapters seem ok, but I use only Apple for ethernet.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
