Worst one I've ever had is the blaring horn of a passing locomotive (course right next to tracks) in my backswing. It was definitely intentional. Silly train pilot.

In HS a team mate skulled one out of the trap and into my face on a practice green. I required 4 stitches under my eye. And another time in HS another team mate hit a ball that ricocheted off one of the metal divider fences at the driving range, then off a rafter in the roof which overhangs the hitting mats and then off my face. That one was 4 stitches above my eye. I am now constantly paranoid around hackers.

This last weekend I played with a couple of nice dudes probably 12 cappers or so. First tee they tell me they're playing back tees and I say that's cool I usually do anyways. They ask me what my cap is and I say 1-2 then I proceed to hook and 3-putt my way to an 86. Granted I didn't cheat or complain the whole time but I'm sure they questioned my claim. Just sayin it's possible for a low cap to have an off day like that but the guy, as you describe him, is a clown.

7 is my record. Also once had 4 birdies and 2 eagles (back to back including my only ace). Sadly that round also included 2 doubles.

Just a guess but I would say somewhere around 1500 years if you have a normal job and save 50% of your earnings. To contribute when I was a kid I played holes at the local muni with my friend in the middle of the night. Not a private course so didn't really have to sneak but hey. We played 'Don't hit it too far you will never find it - matchplay". PS always replaced divots and fixed ball marks I am a decent man I promise.

Post things that you find exceptionally annoying that are commonplace and can't really be changed. For example, don't post slow play since it's obvious and everyone hates it. For me it's taking a break after 9. I hate waiting while my playing partners are inside buying hamburgers and hotdogs and the group ahead is just finishing theirs and hasn't teed off on 10 yet. Really you can't go 4 hours without a full meal? I just keep an orange or something in my bag and I'm good to go. I love courses where the #10 teebox is way the hell out there and forces people to keep playing. Obviously I realize they're set up so people can just play 9 but that's why it's a pet peeve.

Well, par 3's obviously I tend to take the fewest strokes on. In relation to par it's going to be par 5's and will be for basically everyone. 4.7 avg. so far this year.

86. One of those 'I'm going to sell my clubs after this' days. Only one thing I was proud of all day at that was an up and down for par from a tough sand lie. Just trying to focus on that.

Because of glare on the clubs one time I couldn't differentiate 9 and 6 from a quick glance (really stupid) and had the most confused look on my face I'm sure when I watched my supposed 9-iron fly past the green 150 out and into the treeline 20 yards beyond it. "Wow I must have really hit the sweet spot on that one!"

Your point is definitely valid, though I tink it applies moreso in specific situations. For example, in this year's US Open Graeme McDowell had a one shot lead over Havret at the 18th and he waited to see his score to dictate whether he tried to play more aggressively on the last shot. Havret parred so he laid well up and took an easy par to win. This is obvious though, I think any pro would do it but it's just an example.

I injured a back muscle pretty bad a few years ago just warming up on the range before a round. Just mid swing felt like I got struck by lighting and I collapsed. Very bizarre. Couldn't bend over for about 3 weeks much less play golf. Extremely frustrating and I hated being out that long so I feel your pain. Bummer you're out from a freak injury like that. My injury could have easily been prevented so I learned my lesson, and now before I do ANY swinging I stretch extensively.

Always aware of how I'm standing in relation to par. Like others have said it's usually impossible not to. If I ever start getting into negative numbers I try not to think about it but it's hard to not get excited. I've never experienced "the zone" before where all you can focus on is each shot an nothing else.

To be honest, probably not. I've never had a competetive drive really, in anything. Beating people is not what motivates me to do well. My hcp is 1 but I bet my competition hcp (if I had one) would be 3 or 4. Trying to be completely serious for an entire round is usually not very fun for me. I like to jest and have a relaxed good time, that's when I perform best. In high school when I was at my best I was basically scratch and could shoot 72 all week long with my friends but then shoot 80 during tournaments. Something I have to work on if I ever want to compete again.

I cheated once in a junior tournament. Hit an errant tee shot, couldn't find it, dropped another ball. No one was around. That was the 15th hole which I "bogied" then finished birdie par birdie and ended up tying for 2nd. It was stupid and I hate that I did it and I'm really glad I didn't win. Just admitting that so you know I'm not claiming to be some superior never-cheated-before golfer. Having said that it really bothers me when people are obviously cheating (fixing their lie, foot wedge, score padding, gimmes from 2-5 feet), even just casual rounds. If you want to play golf then play golf and play it as it lies and get it in all the way in the hole. And count right. A guy I played with the other week constantly took gimmes and didn't count duffs or lip outs etc. He said he shot 84 and it was obvious that he was a maybe break 100 type of guy. I wanted to say "yeah I guess you did hit the ball 84 times (at least) but you didn't score an 84 in an actual round of golf" but instead said "cool" and left him to his ways. I think it just bothers me that it doesn't bother him. Oh well. Sometimes I will still take a drop when I have a lost ball but only to keep up the pace of play and I'll add 2 penalty strokes but that's as close as I get to cheating.

Chose no on the poll but realized I do have a digital camera capable of decent video. Have never filmed my swing though. Always kind of figured I know my swing has flaws, but why bother changing what I've been doing for years and have learned to use pretty efficiently. Now that I'm getting kind of serious about my game again though I might have to try it out and post it so you guys can tear it apart. Scared what I might find...

Technically when I was just a tiny kid about 2 or 3 I always had those plastic toy clubs. Started playing on the course when I was 7 or 8.

I've been using the same wedges since the last millennium (Carbite Checkmate) and I wore these things out a loooong time ago. All of my golf equipment is pretty old but haven't really had a desire to update until now. I love my wedges they're just unplayable now. I had to check if they were still making clubs but does anyone have any experience with the newer wedges from Carbite? Just looking for recommendations I can check out.

Had a tough sand shot today, downhill lie across 20 feet of trap to a pin 4 steps off the fringe. One hopped it in. I'm not a great sand player so it was a pleasant surprise.

In high school when I was playing literally every day. Practicing, playing tournaments, fun money games with friends on the golf team, something different every day. I never kept an official hcp back then but it was better than it is now. Nowadays it's more of a struggle to get the scores I know I can get because I can't get out every single day. Still heaps of fun no matter what I shoot, but more frustration sprinkled in because I know what I'm capable of.

About a month ago, -4 after 17. Yanked two OB on 18 tee. "Welp, guess I'll try the 3 iron" So smooth
-
Funny game indeed. Following up eagles with doubles is so much fun I can't even tell you.
-
The first time I ever shot under par I was about a 4.5. Seems to be a pretty common hcp to do it.

Question on different model of Titleist Balls...
AceDunk replied to very handicap's topic in Golf Talk
Seconding this. I usually play Pro V1s but the MC Lady is a close second. It really is a good ball and I know a lot of men who play it. Cheap too. -
I want to qualify for and win the US Open then quit and never touch a club again.
