I use them when I store my clubs and they stay on when I throw them in the car/truck. when I get to the course they come off except the SW one. I keep that on there because I've grabbed my 60° when I really wanted my 54°, now with the cover on I don't make the mistake.

Subaru Forester, Jetta Sportwagen - Feedback, Anyone?
Klew replied to iacas's topic in The Grill Room
congrats!! I, too have been looking for another car. we looked at the Jetta Sportwagen, GTI 4 door, Subaru WRX, Prius... my neighbor just bought a Forrester and they love it. not much snow here, but it's a nice car. We've had bad experiences with VW, but they redesigned them so we thought we'd take a look. nice cars, but reliability was an issue. the WRX, is a beast but it doesn't fit 2 golf bags, and either does the GTI....so we got a Prius. good luck with the new car! -
and...if she is a 10, you're 22, you'll find more 10's and you'll prolly post some of them on the internet in questionable compromised poses...jus sayin'

my complete honest opinion.... if I knew what I know now, then, I would have banged every girl in sight that I could. life's too short and realistically, statistically, you're not going to marry her. if you do, print this page out to call me out on it later, I will give you $1000 as a wedding gift, and I'll need to be invited to the wedding. good luck brutha, and wrap the monkey...

I buy whatever is cheap or free. I usally get Pro V1s free, but they are all logo'ed. If I run out I look for closeout pricing on balls....Nike Black $24, TP Black $27.50, etc. I agree with buutuh above, I steer clear of refinished balls, especially at that price point
-
I take it away low and slow and really concentrate on the back of the ball. I don't look up until the club hits the ball. I try to take a nice smooth swing. If you hit the center of the clubface the ball will go forever. I tee it just at the instep of my left foot.

....best of luck to their family. thoughts and prayers for all those dealing with breast cancer. wow...

How many people use an Approach/ Gap wedge?
Klew replied to md2002's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
yup, sure do. love it -
been gaming a 5900 for a little while now. 8.5° with V2 stock Stiff. about the same distance as any other driver I've had. been using it because I thought it was THE straightest driver out there....uhhh, not true. like another poster said, you can still slice the sh!t out of it. it's been working lately but nothing is forgiving for a bad swing. if you do go with it, go 1° less than you usually do. it launches high. good luck!

Lost PW. Can a Gap wedge replace it?
Klew replied to XMScott's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
go to your local golf shop and see if they have a comparable PW in their used single irons. I was in the same boat for awhile and could never get my gap wedge to stretch that far and the 3/4 9i shot didn' thave the same effect as a full PW shot, soooo, I bought a 46deg CG14. works great. -
golf galaxy golf ball fitting
Klew replied to shane4golf's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
i've done the Bridgestone challenge a couple of times and each time the Pro V1x comes out on top. the tour b330 was about the same but the v1x gave me a little more distance. the others spun a little too much for me. -
Nike One Black (08) or Taylormade Burner TP
Klew replied to flybub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
between the 2 I go with the Nike Blacks, for me. Definitely have had more luck with them than the TP Black. -
never???? huh? I had to go back a couple pages to find out where I made that comment. they are pretty darn good wedges, and the best for me. glad your wedge game is good enough you don't need to look elsewhere. imo, you are doing yourself a disservice by not trying them. my .02, take with a grain of salt, {{insert other cliches here}}

thanks! not many people really catch on to that. the grind of Scratch wedges are unlike any I've seen in retail. the sole, heel & toe relief, make these wedges second to none. trying not to sound like an advertisement, but yeah, the time they take to "fit" you into a proper grind for your swing and wedge game is nice. I was really skeptical at first (even asked about money back guarantee), but after playing with them I am very happy I made this choice. I always struggled with high, medium, and low bounce choices in wedges. the high ones would always bounce off the fairways and the really low ones would dig into bunkers like no other. the medium ones were nice but when opening them up, they would add too much bounce and I would skull a few. I played for 2 years with wedges that I ground myself with a die grind, and I couldn't have been happier. I sharpened them til it literally changed the swingweight. I tried going through all, and I mean all the 2009 Vokey grinds, and none of them felt good to me. so, in long, I went to Scratch. most versatile, most confident inspiring wedge I have ever played. I need it because I miss a lot of greens. Chikaras are also nice, but they are waaaaaayyyy outta my price range. Miuras are up there too. Maybe after this set I'll try them out, but I'll need to start saving now. one more thing about the Scratch wedges...the shape is different than other "spoon", "teardrop", shaped wedges. straighter leading edge and shaped more like an iron than a wedge. biggest selling point for me.
-
I'm going to say Scratch wedges are the best. If you've never tried them than you will never dial in your wedge game.
-
only if you know how to play those type of shots. tinker with them a little bit. I'm guessing if wedges aren't your strong point then, you will hit those fat.
-
I live getting new wedges. the spin and the crispness of every shot is soooo nice. for the Vokeys, I would hit all the grinds/bounces available and see which one really grooves with your swing. I had gamed an old 200 series Vokey and a really old Watson gunmetal wedge forever. At one time my 5 iron had more spin than my wedges. Finally, when I just couldn't sharpen them anymore and I could feel the swingweight decreasing, I knew it was time for a new set. Let me tell you, confidence in the set you buy will improve your short game, and nothing else.

Eyeglass wearers....do you wear 'em while golfing?
Klew replied to Dub's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I wear Adidas Optical 6064's. I was only going to wear them for golf specifically, but they are so comfortable I wear them all the time. Extremely lightweight, only have top rim/frame, and the ear pieces are ribbed so they don't slip off when you start to sweat. I never wipe them down while golfing, and they work great. These particular ones I wear are equipped with Transition Lenses so they darken when I am outside. My wife makes fun of me sometimes, but I don't care, they work great. Occasionally, I'll wear contacts, but after a day golfing, they strain my eyes, that's why I opted for a pair f sport specific glasses. -
Hybrid/wood question ( a little long but please help)
Klew replied to dagolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
My old set up was: 1. driver 9.5° 2. 3 wood 15° 3. 5 wood 18° 4-10. 3-9 iron 11. 48° pitching wedge 12. 56° sand wedge 13. 60° lob wedge 14. putter setup now 1. driver 9.5° 2. 16° hybrid 3. 20° hybrid 4. 23° hybrid 5-9. 5-9 iron 10. 46° pitching wedge 11. 50° gap wedge 12. 54° sand wedge 13. 60° lob wedge 14. putter I too was hit & miss with my FW off the fairway, so I got rid of it. haven't looked back. -
think he just demoed it. i didn't like it either....or the ft-9.

I currently have: Studio Style Newport 2 Button Back Newport 2 Tel3 Newport 2 I never really cared for the Studio Select NP2. well....I didn't like the style. I like the NP2 Midslant, but haven't decided which one I will try yet. Studio Style...I like the feel. I don't think it's harsh or hot off the face. very nice. Tel3...soft, and lighter. I think 330g or so. this was gamer for years. loved it but I thought I needed more consistency (read:heavier headweight for more consistent stroke) BBNP2...soft, but not as soft as the Tel3. really nice headweight at 350g. I love the look and love the feel. this is now my gamer. as far as headcovers are concerned, I use a generic AM&E; one. I never use a Scotty Cameron one. just have always used the same HC

In the market for new grips, any ideas?
Klew replied to acj990's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
another New Decade here. -
200 yard club....for you I would suggest a lower lofted hybrid. maybe 16°-17°, should do the trick.

it's the KBS Tour. you can specify any shaft you want, it's just their preference. I don't know much about steel shafts so that's about as much as I can offer right now.
