  1. I find forward pressing to cure hooks for me. Its hard to flip at the ball with your hands forward.
  2. Sergio didnt have a bad temperament at 19. Hes just gotten bitter over time. I think Rory will be great, but the Sergio comparisons ARE fair.
  3. agree completely. If you are going to have to play out of tiretracks and not ground your club why even rake any of the bunkers?
  4. Thats complete bullshit, people are walking through those bunkers. Do they get to rake them before they play? I mean wtf if you hit into a footprint.
  5. then they are stupid for keeping the course that way. Ive been to tour events and many courses have stuff that looks like that by sunday.
  6. if thats a bunker how come people were standing in/around it?
  7. You wont see nearly as many shots bounce in at whistling straits as you will see in the open. Ive played many a "links" style courses and they are all quasilinks. Good luck trying to bounce the ball in to a front pin and have the ball check up in the fringe/fairway. Also the tour plays the rough up which doesnt seem to be the case around the greens on links courses so good luck trying to play the ball low coming out of that stuff.
  8. Whistling straits isnt a links course. American "links" courses never play like a true links anyway since it never seems like we can get the firm and fast conditions over here.
  9. I accuse you of using PEDs
  10. so you only liked golf growing up? No baseball/basketball/football? We dont know if Jack slept around. We have no reason to believe he did but this is an entirely different age in terms of media. People get busted for stuff all the time nowadays, there was nothing like TMZ back in Jack's day. If a sports writer wrote something bad about you they could lose access, now everyone with an internet connection can say/post whatever they want. It isnt a bad thing necessarily, its just different.
  11. you must hate a lot of famous men/athletes. Im sure your childhood heroes did the same or worse.
  12. No, you cant repair spikemarks until after youve played the hole. Where did you ever get the idea that "pros" could and amateurs cant?
  13. are you kidding? AK humble? Not cocky?
  14. slow play and not being able to have fun playing with hackers in the US comes down to poor course design imo. Having heather or knee high grass on your course is stupid unless you are hosting top level competition. It just slows down play and is ridiculous. The wooded holes (like actual woods not just trees) are dumb as well. If you want to speed up play get rid of heather and dig all of that crap out so its only trees and dirt/pine straw/grass whatever. It really kills me to play on courses like this because I know itll be a long day and its miserable for me even as a low handicap because I feel like id find my ball if I had a spotter etc. In closing, high handicaps are fine as long as we arent looking for balls all day (im not a straight driver personally so Im sure well be looking for some of mine as well)
  15. you can try to play a hooded 7 or 8 iron on those shots and just hope.
  16. What rate? Theres been 2 this year big deal. Its an anomaly. The last one before these past 2 was David Duval in 99.
  17. rofl @ tiger being a good golfer..... hes already at least the 2nd best all time
  18. if theres hazards and all sorts of stuff over the course you can just be fighting your swing as a low handicap and shoot in the mid to high 80's. My strength is my shortgame and my weakness are my teeshots occasionally. When im hitting the ball on line I can shoot under par at quite a few places, however when im hitting the ball left to left or right to right if its a course with a lot of hazards im in trouble. What kind of place were you playing at? THe country club here in Lansing is rated a 73.0 from the tips but unless they really trick up the pins its much simpler than some courses with a lower rating here because basically theres no penalty strokes and if you have a good shortgame you can get up a down quite often
  19. Never saw Seve play but id go with Tiger. Putting is part of the short game as well you know. Phil misses and has missed WAYYY too many short putts to even be mentioned in the same class as Tiger.
  20. I do if its in competition or with my uncle and his buddies then yes, with my friends in a casual round no.
  21. what is the level of courses you are playing? Very few places here in mid michigan that are under $40 for 18 have a starter. Almost all courses have rangers though. Any of the "nicer" (read: more expensive because the course conditions over the past few years at the nice courses have been abysmal) always have starters.
  22. Is this post from the early 2000's or something? Tiger is INCREDIBLY consistent. Hes MUCH more consistent than he has ever been. Aside from this year hes almost always top 10 top 20. His early career was definitely feast or famine, but not anymore.
  23. id say taylormade has more by a wide margin. I dont have any statistics though.
  24. Matts are horrible, fat balls feel like youve flushed them. Ive never tried the Vijay practice matts, those might be interesting since they give and youll hit the ball terrible if you catch it fat
  25. your parents are naive if they are worrying about golf getting in the way of your "studies" Theres going to be way more temptations everyday than golf. Id bring your clubs.
