  1. I say let her try a tourney or two. I would watch, and I think most people on this website would watch.
  2. As a wise man once said, "Take two weeks off...............and then quit!"
  3. I think you can do it man! Having a dream and chasing it is an awesome thing. Yes, you know the odds are against you, but you won't really know until you try. Just the same reason I play the Powerball, cause if I don't, I will never know. Hell, I got 2 numbers right last night.......getting closer!!!!
  4. A couple of things that I try to live by which help my golf game are: 1. Always keep your body in good shape. Playing a lot of golf and hitting the range every day is going to take its toll 2. Work on being mentally strong. Once you get playing in high end tournaments with great players, often the only separator is "the head". Unfortunately this is my weak point! Good Luck
  5. Hope all is going well with your dream man. I to live in Wisc. and it's almost impossible to be a good player and still live up here year round. If you are dead serious about this dream then you have to play year round. I have been stuck at a 3 for more than 10 years now. Every year I think is going to be the year that I break through, but the long layoff in the winter doesn't allow me to build on past successes, I have to start over with everything almost every year. All I can say is take it as serious as you can, but don't spend your life savings on it just yet. Once you get down to a 1 or below, then you may be close. Even then, you are still 6-7 shots away from being a Pro, considering most would have a handicap of +4 to +7. Good Luck
  6. Flirted with Stack and Tilt toward the end of the year. Going to work on the swing in my garage throughout the winter. My goal; To consistently hit more flush shots in 2012 using the S & T method.

    The Gap

Totally agree with that; "I stopped thinking them as Sandwedge, Lob Wedge, Gap Wedge. To me there just a degree of loft." I used to carry a 60,56,52,and 48. Now it's just a 58, 52, and 46. Just a matter of preference, I guess. And it allows me to carry a 2 iron or hybrid instead.
  8. I've just never seen a 1 handicap shoot a 87 before! I am a 3 and my high round of the year was an 83. So I guess I am more consistent than most. But to say someone who shoots all there scores between 5 strokes is not counting all there strokes is just plain ignorant.
  9. I voted for consistency. That means you at least have a little bit of a clue what your doing.....I think. I only shot in the 80s twice this year, the rest were from 75 to 79, with one 69. If I can consistently lower my median score next year by one or two strokes to 74 to 78s, I will be happy.
  10. Playing in my third one of the season this weekend. This one is a 9-9-9 tourney. Love them! And I seem to step up my play in them. My favorite is the alternate shot holes......and true alternate shot, not this modified version. Do you guys like them, and which part? Why?
  11. Well I started early enough (4 yrs old), played at a high level in high school, so I thought I knew everything. Turns out, I haven't gotten any better than that for 20 years now. I wish I would have gone to an instructor early and often. I had all the skills, and still do, but now it's harder to change something I have been doing for many many years now. Good Luck
  12. People change jobs all the time, I don't get the big deal with this. I guess caus it involves Tiger, but I'm getting real bored with him. He's becoming John Daly, in that he still is a big draw, but can't golf and is just a side show. Sounds like Dustin Johnson doesn't care either, which I applaud him for
  13. I like the Shamble too, played in, and won one last week. I won't play in anymore "charity" scrambles unless a company funds the whole group. I hate paying $100+, having multiple drinks and some other games and winning $40 as a team! That's just crazy. I could've saved 5 hours and just given the donation. I seriously played in one that took 6 hours, we won, and we each got a $10 bar tab and a tee shirt for a $120 entry!! Sorry about the rant, just brought back some bad memories.
  14. In trying to get more shaft angle, I continually pushed my irons right. Finally after much frustration, I took a lesson to find out why (have never had a lesson in my life). Turns out, when I thought I was aiming at the target, my face was actually wide open. I had always just convinced myself that I was aiming at the target. Since then I have changed everything, including adopting a Stack & Tilt sort of methodology. Has anyone else had a visualization problem like this?
  15. Right there with ya man. I hate my game right now and am putting down the clubs and grabbing my bow. Haven't been able to hit a shot on the clubface for a good month now. Haven't had a round in the 80s all year, until my last 3 rounds. Don't know what to do, and at this point, don't care. F golf, I'm going hunting!
  16. GO BADGERS!!! The first Big-10 game on the schedule might decide it all. Nebraska vs Wisconsin at Madtown! Should be awesome
  17. I have a couple that just irk me: - telling past stories of what coulda, should, woulda been (that bore the crap outa me), then continuing the story when it's their shot. Uhhhh! Just hit the ball!! - people that constantly whine about course conditions and why they never see anyone working! Being an ex-Superintendent this just kills me. "yeh, the course just maintains itself". The people complaining are usually retired or taking the day off of work, so don't complain about the people who do work and are trying to make the course playable for people like you. People have no clue how hard it is to maintain a course and how many hours those guys put in. It's part of the reason I go out of it, cause I didn't ever see my family. - finally.....golfers that don't respect other people's property. When you hit into someone's yard, JUST LEAVE IT!! It's a $2 ball that now belong to the property owner. The worst is when they play the shot out of the property owners yard (mine)!! When it's clearly white staked all the way around. Com on people
  18. I can relate......I have been stuck at a 3 for over ten years now. My problem isn't my short game or my long game, it's my irons. I currently gave up on my previous swing because I became so frustrated......people couldn't believe it! I am in the midst of a complete swing change, which hasn't panned out yet, but I'm going to stick with it (remind you of someone??). Anyway, my moral is don't just beat a dead horse, don't be afraid to change it up! Good Luck
  19. I totally thought the same thing you did. But if it was a re-broadcast, how come they couldn't have edited it to finish by 6 EST? Makes no sense ! By the way......awesome new course in Wisc, Erin Hills! Site of the 2017 US Open. I will be there............watching of course
  20. I'm somewhat with you in that it won't help their game............but, most "choppers" don't care like the people on this website do! It's as easy as that. They don't care...........they don't care what they shoot, they don't care where their ball goes....etc. They only care to get out of the house, away from the family, have a beer, and goof around with some buddies. And honestly............I can't blame them!
  21. Yeah probably not worth the time, effort, and cost of a small putting green in the yard. Cost alone; excavate outline, fill with sand mix, establish with some sort of irrigation, apply fertilizer, buy walk behind reel mower, mow at least every other day, apply chemicals (herbicide, fungicide, insecticide), winterize if necessary. Somewhere in the middle of that...........find time to actually use the thing Definately not worth it !
  22. Sounds like a mix opinion on the shoes. Think I'll wait till they have been out for a while and come down in price. Thanks
  23. I purchased my R11 two weeks ago and wondered the same thing as you. Here's what I learned; 1. The 2.0 is an 1-1/12 longer, allowing for added lenght (5-7yds avg) but also more wayward shots. The R11 is straighter and you will end up using the adjustments to fine tune it once you get used to it. 2. The 2.0 is generally for the lower handicap golfer 3. I hit both of them a lot before buying. I have enough distance off the tee that distance isn't an issue, so the added consistancy of the R11 was the tipping point for me. 4. If price is an issue, the R11s are starting to come down, I got mine new for $329. Hope this helps. Good Luck
  24. Everyone has "tournament nerves" when they first start playing tourneys. Just knowing that should allow you to calm down a little bit. It's how you manage your nerves will determine your success. The more you play the easier it gets, but it still never goes away. Tournaments are a lot of fun, try to think of them that way. Good Luck
  25. Obviously very few of you have worked on a golf course. I got so used to being hit with golf balls that I don't even turn around and look when a ball lands right next to me, let alone rolls up to me. It's only the head shot that really hurts anyway Man up
