They're pretty fun if you don't mind playing drunk. And ridiculously low scores are common and they're not always posted by cheaters. My friends and I posted a 54 with no mulligans and no gimmies. We made par on 17 and 18 to do so. One partner plays a scratch, one is a 10 handi, one was a noob but he was cool.

I think I understand what you're saying.. If you're standing on a par 3 that's listed at 180 yds and it's 60 yds downhill, then it will not play the 180 yds listed. It will play considerably shorter. Don't make it harder than it has to be with all of the equations and stuff. Using your ranger finder will give you a straight line distance to the pin unless, as Iacas stated, it has a slope adjustment.

I made my biggest swing change last season. I started off the season shooting in the mid 80's and knew that my current swing wouldn't ever take me to the next level. I got my girlfriend to video tape my swing and took the time to analyze it and make the needed adjustments. During the swing change I was posting scores in in the mid 80's-high 90's and I was getting really frustrated. But I stayed with it. Through the off season I kept working and at the beginning of this season it finally clicked. I haven't shot in the 90's once this season and generally shoot in the high 70's. My highest round of the year was in an 87 at a fantastic (and really difficult) course in Austin on a day that I was plagued with double bogies (seriously, I had 5 doubles). My low round was +4. The moral of the story is to stay with. The end results are worth the frustrations you're going through right now.

Yeah no kidding, you rolled the dice and crapped out man. The good news is that you have a rain check and after your first round of exams, theres no better way to go blow off steam (and all that adderall) than a nice round of golf at what sounds like a good course.

There's a ton of difference between Pro V1's and Super Fly's. That's the reason for the price difference. Does that make you dumb for buying them? Of course not. It was a good deal. I would've bought them too. Just tell him it's not how, it's how many.

ask him how many "Gimmies" Tiger has ever taken

At least he has the integrity to be honest and pay you! But yeah, I hate par 3's. They kill me. I'll take a 550yd par 5 any day over a 190yd par 3

I'm not gonna lie, that's a hard core work out. If you can jump straight into that, good luck, but expect to be sore for a few weeks. I post my work out last season so it's somewhere on the forums. It's based along the same principles (shoulders, abs, and cardio) but it's also designed for the average person with limited time. But Camillio is a superb athlete. The only person who's more athletic on tour is, well you all know who it is

Cleveland HiBORE XL S (9.5*)
JKilgore44 replied to Fairway_CY's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have it and I really like it. I absolutely rip it when I need to. I mean the ball absolutely flies off the club face. ITs so square that its easy to line up. THe review above is dead on the money. I highly recommend this club. -
Putting Practice - is it helping?
JKilgore44 replied to becksfan2185's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
In my experience, practicing on slower greens won't be detremental to your game. Really focus on making good strokes and hitting the ball solidly. Personally I find faster greens much easier because you simply stroke the ball whereas slower greens you almost have to "pop" the ball. Regardless of the green speed, remember that you're practicing your stroke. Stick to the fundamentals of a good stroke and continue to build on that. -
I really thought Vick would end up in one of three places: 1) Oakland - because Al Davis is notoriously bad for selecting players based solely on speed and that aren't necessarily productive for his system 2) Detroit - They ended up with Stafford though, so that's that 3) Miami - Parcells could control him and keep him in check, but just imagine the wildcat with Vick and Ronnie Brown! But I was worng, good for Vick though, Im glad. Stallworth gets community service for killing a human. Vick gets 2 years for allowing his some dogs to fight on his land. Ray Lewis gets indicted for murder and aggravated assualt and only get a $250,000 fine.... Somethings wrong here..

I've never been so mad to shoot a 78

It's okay dude, I get angry out there too. I feel like if I don't meet my expectations I am failing myself. People who don't show any emotion when they play aren't pushing themselves hard enough IMO. I'm not suggesting that breaking a club over your knee is particularly smart, but I've broken clubs too so who am I to judge you? The only advice I would give is to break it over the cart or wrap it around a tree, it won't hurt nearly as bad. PS, I played the two Ritz-Carelton courses in Naples this summer and they're both top-notch! -
I vote AK. He has a better swing and I think that he has more talent burried deep down inside. For a smaller dude, he absolutely rips the ball, and he plays with no fear. AK's biggest opposition is himself. He doesn't have that mature mentality like Tiger does. But then again, After Tiger won the '97 Masters (He was only 21 I think) he did a lot of growing up himself. Ultimately, if AK keeps his head on straight and continues at the rate he's doing, he will be great.

Yeah ryo, you're not kidding about Texas heat and humidity. I live in College Station, right in the heart of the Brazos Valley, and it's around 104 with 100% humidity. The heat index is around 114 and the little breeze that actually does exist is blocked by the trees. All you guys that complain about the heat should come walk 18 in our shoes. Well that's if you were still standing after 9.

Lean is better than bulky especially in golf. I think being athletic is going to beneficial in any sport, golf included. I'm 6'1", 185lbs and have long arms and big hands. I hit the ball alot farther than my playing partners because they're built differently. It's not so much that swing is better or I have better mechanics, I just generate more club head speed through extension and leverage.

Nice Video I like Tiger... "Well you know I don't really joke around around alot, I pretty much call it like I see it" And SenorChiplote, have you ever played the course in your avatar?? That's my home course, check out my sig. That's number 11 the first par 3 on the back. Just wanted to point that out.

1) Drop down to a single digit handicap - I've been improving every season and this is the year that I want to push hard and drop down to the single digits. 2) Drop my putt totals - I'm averaging around 31 and I would like to drop that to around 27. That's a steep drop, but with practice on and around the green, it's possible. 3) Improve my wedge game inside of 100 yards - Anyone can hit a full shot into a green, but hitting a touch shot from 60 yards is something that takes a bit more skill. Lately this has been killing me. There's no reason to make bogey from 60 yards out EVER. 4) Focus on every single shot - After a bad hole or towards the end of a round, I sometimes lose focus and start texting or something dumb. I want to make it a point this season to maintain focus on EVERY shot I take

In High School, I don't think I played in a single tournament that I wasn't exhausted. And, I sucked. In College, I have played countless rounds on NO SLEEP. After staying up all night partying, we sometimes make our way to the first tee at the crack of dawn and play until we can't stand anymore. Truthfully, I have played really well some of those days, but as a whole, I sucked. Before tournaments, I have a no alcohol policy and try to get at least 7 hours of sleep minimum. I wake up early and eat breakfast, have a little bit of coffee, and stretch. I play my best in these tournaments. I am more confident, more focused, and more energetic. It shows the most in my putting for sure. So, from what I've learned, you better get some rest before you play. And if you don't, you better be drunk so that there's a 50% chance you might play decent, otherwise you're doomed

I keep score according to the rule book. It may sound cliche, but that's the only way you can truly calculate your abilities. However, I don't play the ball down (my course condition is not even close to good enough for that). If I think there's a chance my ball is out of play, I hit a provisonal. The only exception that I may make is what I consider a "warm-up" mulligan. If I am starting cold and have not warmed up at all, I allow myself one mulligan. It may just have a psychological advantage (because I quit worrying about being stiff and stuff). Some of my playing partners play differently. One of my buddies plays completely within the parameters of the rules (which I like), and one of my buddies shaves a few shots here and there by not taking ANY lost ball penalities and counting lip outs (especially if it was a 4th putt lip out lol). The latter of the two usually scores pretty close to me and occasionally will beat me. I just smile and shake his hand, it's good for his ego and his confidence, but deep inside I know that my score and handicap is legit.

In order to get accurate distances that translate to the course, you should use the same ball you play with. It may seem elementary, but some people may not realize the difference between hitting a range ball and a Pro V. When I was learning my distances I chose to grab a bunch of balls and throw them down on a par 5 and start hitting shots, gradually working through each club in my bag. If you can hit 5 or 6 3-irons, 5 or 6 4-irons, etc etc, you'll get a pretty good idea of your average distance. Another important thing to consider is that although you may decide you hit your 8-iron 150yds or whatever, you'll rarely experience a situation where you'll have a plain, flat 150yd shot. On the course there is always different variables to consider (pin locations, wind, bunkers) that will influence your club selection. Just a thought...

I haven't played them recently, but I'm fairly confident that they're in good shape. Clay and Kizer are always in good shape. I would call and ask the proshop, they won't lie to you.

I started playing in 8th grade. I can remember the first practice round I played with my buddy that taught me the game. And I can remember my first tournament in 9th grade, my first actual round. I shot 104. I was embarassed to do so, but it was legitimate. Lot's of lost balls and OB. I never shot over 100 again in a tournament. I practiced every single day. You can't break get better without practice.

I voted for the Masters although this years US Open will be unforgetable. the past few US opens haven't been fun though in my opinion. I like to see my favorite players break par at the majors. I like the PGA too, it's always a fun one. Although it's not a major, I like the Players. I would rather watch the players than the British Open

Shoes: Adidas or Nike
JKilgore44 replied to myndcraft's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Footjoys are great, Titleist makes a hell-of-a-shoe I wear Nikes. They're affordable and pretty comfortable, however my first pair fell apart (the sole literally came off in the middle of a round) but I had walked in them for almost two seasons. I think it's the SP-3 model. Only like $50 so you can get mutliple pairs. Good luck!
