  1. This is a very vague question, and Im not sure exactly how to word it... If you put a 17" SuperStroke putter grip onto a standard length putter (35") does this in fact make the putter longer overall in comparison to a stock putter grip? Thanks for any and all help.
  2. Its a 1H, so its a little more difficult to get elevated. Off the tee it is not bad at all but the better CG of a wood helps to elevate the ball from fairways. Ya Im not saying shot shaping is a do or die for a hybrid, but in certain instances if I need to draw or cut around trees it is nearly impossible with my 1H.
  3. Actually, I did this exact thing about three years ago. I was tired of hitting my 18 degree hybrid as far as my 15 degree three wood. One night after a very frustrating three-wood performance I went on eBay and found an old Nickent 14 degree hybrid and have been using that as my "3 wood" ever since. All that being said, I am currently in the market for a new (traditional) 3 wood. The 14 degree hybrid worked excellent for the problems I was having with my old 3 wood (too high ball flight, too much ballspin). However, the hybrid has its drawbacks as well: nearly impossible to get any kind of height on shots, little to no shot shaping ability. So, I guess I say all this to say that using a hybrid to replace your 3 wood may very well be what you are looking for. I have loved my 14 degree for almost 3 years now. But, at the end of the day the correctly fitted and selected 3 wood will ALWAYS work out better than a hybrid. Hybrids are hybrids and 3 woods are 3 woods...... if you get what Im saying.
  4. I just want to get some input from everyone else... What do you guys prefer? Using the stock PW that comes with the set. OR Using a aftermarket low degree wedge (47*) like a Vokey or Gorge wedge? I personally use Ping i20s and am seriously considering dropping the stock PW for a 47* Gorge.
  5. Dustin Johnson: -13 Jason Dufner: -13 Luke Donald: -13
  6. PW - 107 ~ 130 yards 54* - ~ 110 yards 60* < 90 yards (and i only use if i need to get it up quick or get a good deal of spin)
  7. as of now i have the Taylormade R5 three wood and have really been noticing that i am not hitting it quite the distance that i need, lately i have been hitting my 19* hybrid as far as my 15* 3-wood so, my question is, what is the best overall 3-wood? -Best out of the rough -Best off the deck (fairway) -Best distance **forgiveness is also somewhat important to me because i know that certain titleist 3-woods have enormous distance but are damn hard to hit off the deck... thanks for the help
  8. ya i got the 2.5 tho, it was my first scotty and i used it for almost a year but putting has gone to shit since i moved down south so i went back to the pure-blade (Ping G2 Tess) it was a pretty decent putter but i just dont really like mallet-type putters
  9. mine is kind of a mix... after i address the ball i waggle the club quite a bit, than i ground the club which, for me, calms my nerves and allows me to be sure i dont have too much pressure on the grip, than i take it away from there.
  10. UST V2 shafts are SICK i have the 70g in my Ping Rapture, i love it i would deff look into those if i were u
  11. have shot 72 a couple times, but have shot under par a couple times for nine holes including a 35 about a month ago. Just cant seem to put two strong nines together, but it will come i have been playing to like an 11 or 12 lately but i got it back around 7-8 again now so i feel it coming back

im surprised no one has mentioned this before... I.P. stated that "when he reaches his full potential, he will compete with Tiger" but the thing is if anyone "reached their full potential" than they too could compete with tiger... the bigggest difference is, if Tiger reaches his full potential (which i believe could very well be this year) we will see a year never to be surpassed.
  13. while watching the tourney i noticed that Nike's players (Tiger, Choi) have a red circle on their hats (right side) anyone know what this is?
  14. i agree with the guys saying phil's short game is second to none... but i do believe it all depends on how you look at it. strictly chipping - phil w/o a doubt, putting - tiger is more clutch... but id have to say phils shortgame is much more creative and i would give him the lead there and for those who think phil "doesnt care" on thurs and friday... i think ur nuts, i believe that phil is one of the phew who are completely geared in from the get-go he wants to win so bad at every tournament that he will do w/e he thinks is neccesary to win (take the us open for example)
  15. im really surprised no one has mentioned "The Pro" by Butch Harmon, not a teaching book. its actually a book about his father Claude Sr. and Butch's life... very very good book, if you havent read it yet go get it now.
  16. i cant really help u on the mental side, that has to do w/ practice and confidence... but i switched to the "cross-handed", or "left-hand-low" style to reduce the amount of wrist action in my putting stroke. it has helped alot and i have been using it for about 2-3 years
  17. is there a reason Steve (tiger's caddie) isn't wearing a vest?
  18. the university i will be attending
  19. i just went threw this decision about 2 weeks ago... i had a 3-wood, 2-hybrid, and a 3-hybrid... i chose to drop the 2-hybrid because it is prolly my least hit club. I have been played about 10 rounds since then and i am very happy w/ the decision to move to the 4-wedge system and i do not miss my 2-hyrbid at all

  21. i think both are hurting him, but i voted putting because i remember when tiger was younger he made every putt. i remember watching him w/ my dad years ago and my dad would always be saying "watch heres another clutch putt" so i think hes just not putting like he used to. but like eric said that could be because his tee-to-green play has put so much pressure on his putting
  22. i carry 4... the PW (Ping g5), 50* (Vokey), 56* (Oil Can Vokey), and a 60* (Ping Tour) i actually jus dropped my 16* hybrid to make room for the 56* Oil Can... having four wedges just opens up so many different types of shots from every angel on the course
  23. thanks everyone, but ive decided to stick w/ my R5, i couldn't hit anything but a fade w/ the hibore, which is weird for me cuz i hit a draw normally. I just didnt really like the way it came off the face tho i do think it hit a little farther than my R5.
  24. one reason u may be hitting it left (slice or push) may be becuz ur hips are very fast. if u notice in the broken down pictures (#7) you can tell how far ahead ur hips are. at that point u should be making contact with the ball edit: i just noticed ur avy... im assuming that is a picture of u. notice where the hips are? about the same spot as in the pic i mentioned above but also notice where ur hands are at, that looks much better.
  25. id have to say the first time i hit a golf ball was when i was about 5 and that was with a baseball bat lol... i guess i started competively about 5-6 years ago but then got really serious 4 years ago when i started playing for HS
