A game driver vs. B game driver
Chrepper replied to bunkerputt's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
My B game is playing my misses, driver included. However, If I'm really on my A game, then I'll bust out the 975 D with a steel shaft... woohoo for old school -
Sounds like the tips are parallel...you have to incrementally cut the tips and butt ends at different lengths. If the tips are not parallel, then don't cut them. Google it. There is more to it then just cutting the butt.

Nike and Adidas outlets have all that stuff with neon colors; probably because no one else wants them.

One day, they will both come together...and that will be a really good day.

How many clubs do you need to play your handicap?
Chrepper replied to Gerald's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Carrying less clubs on purpose does force one to think outside the box; it helps with shot shaping too. A great practice method is to play a pitch and putt with just one wedge of your choosing. Short game skills will grow immensely. Similarly, a par 3 course with an iron or two will really test one's shot making capability. And its a ton of fun! -
KZG sells heads to master club builders. They take it from there. They truly are a superior product. I guess this is a case of "you get what you pay for."

I think its fun to go out with a driver, 6 iron, and putter and see what I can shoot. Sometimes its bad...very bad Sometimes its surprisingly good. I need more than that to play a 3 though, haha. -
Well you answered your own question then

Don't underestimate a custom club fitting, even on a "monitor." That will tell you, scientifically, all sorts of numbers that you won't be able to see by just hitting at a range. (i.e. ball speed, swing speed, spin). Only then will you find a perfect fit driver/shaft combination. I have been custom fitting for years, and many people doubt it. Give it a try.

May be a stupid question but I need opinions
Chrepper replied to tazrestling27's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I used to be scratch, now I'm a 3; I rarely use a full swing, mainly because I'm not very flexible. Even with my driver, I'm only coming between 3/4 and full. Point is this: do what you are comfortable with. Practice will help you feel more comfortable, and if you are looking for distance, and you are getting it with that swing, then go for it. The full swing has its place. Also note it will generate more spin on your shorter irons/wedges. -
Nice work! If your GIR was 7/18, then work on your short game...25 yards and in. If you are around the green in 2, then a chip and a putt, and you have a par my friend. Keep up the good work.

Hey nice comeback on the back 9. Keep at it. If you find yourself playing poorly, play for your misses and let your short game do the work. Good luck!
-
Wow must be nice...haha Something I picked up in Tiger's book: Some of the best practice sessions are no more than 20 minutes. In addition, if you practice too much and get tired, you can develop bad habits without knowing it. Good luck, I hope you accomplish that goal.

slice? yes plus many other problems. Transferring your weight forward is one of the most fundamental and necessary parts of the golf swing.

I would have given each of them a box of tissues

Hey lefty18, good question. I used to lift a lot, and got pretty big for my size. Then, I went to the police academy (firefighter now so go ahead and make fun). I can see truth in mostly what everyone has said so far, but everyone is different. What works well for you might not work for me, etc. Anyway, I did hundreds of pushups, and other calisthenic exercises, everyday...it's like boot camp, but for 6 months straight (PT everyday). Pushups are a great exercise. I cannot put a number or time limit for you to get some muscle with any exercise, no one can. Google some good calisthenic work outs and stick with it. And whats so good about that, you may ask? Free, no equipment needed, no gym membership, and you can do it in front of your TV at your convenience.

Great programs so far! Hoorah! Before I became a firefighter, I was a police officer for a short time. I stick with my academy workouts, minus the drill instructors borderline beating me up! It's all that stuff from boot camp! I'm not jacked, but I can certainly hold my own. I really need some yoga, though.

Sometimes I need a beach ball on the tee, haha. I agree with most of the golfers here when they mention "feel." I hate when I hit a golf ball and it feels like I just hit a rock. In contrast, I hate when I putt a ball and it feels like Jello. With that said, golf is expensive, as are the balls. I'll have fun and score pretty decent with any ball that feels good to me (within reason). I'll say this much: I've shanked Prov1s, and I've shanked range balls.
