To break 80..... In all honesty, you don't need to drive the ball well or hit your irons well. Just smack the ball around.....and keep it relatively on the lot. Avoid the big numbers....Hit a few greens....... chip/putt with moderate ability and you are in the 70s. Pretty easy, right? My 2 cents...LOL

I thought I already posted this, but I guess not because I don't see it!! LOL. I went cold turkey (quit playing) the first week of september through mid FEB because of my sons activities, but over the past few weeks we have had some nice weather in KC and I am getting the golf itch back. I've logged 5-7 rounds so far and didn't even bother to keep score. I was just happy to be outplaying and hitting golf balls. GHIN was finally activated in my part of the country March 1st....and it was 75 degrees Saturday with blustery winds.....(the wind was insane....I won't venture to say what it was because everybody always exaggerates how hard the wind blows..LOL) Once GHIN is turned on, I post all my scores. My first official round of 2017: 72.5CR/137slope/ 6,565yds..........43-38=81 I made 3 bonehead doubles early....mostly winter rust bad shots due to a couple "foul balls" and a flubbed pitch. Overall....I played much better than expected for the other 15 holes playing them in +3 in a ridiculous wind condition. I know it's early, but the conditions were really tough and I saw enough good to make me feel optimistic for the new year. Golf On!!!

The most recent addition to "the cave" is a 75" Sony Bravia... I've always been a bit of a HT nerd, and it's been fun getting acquainted with the newest addition. I may never learn the full capabilities of all the technology stuff. At least I figured out the basics so far...LOL

I had already played for a few years before I registered my first official GHIN HC............... With that said, my first HC was 12.

just a thought......... Playing a few days or every day in a week in a row should under no circumstances be considered playing too much to make your worse. The only way to get better is to "PLAY A LOT OF GOLF". Can a golfer that plays a lot and get into a slump? Yes.....of course! What is playing a lot also means different things to different people. To me, 100 rounds per year is a minimum requirement. With that said, playing a lot is an unconditional and absolute requirement to become a better golfer.

Hilarious!!!!! I imagine his round was finished after that little escapade! hahahahaha Just A TAD BIT FAT, but to his credit...he was standing on a sheet of ice and slipped. I give him an A for effort. I liked the "GRUNT" as he landed flat on his back.

I rarely get to open bowl with my son because he is Tourney bowling every week. Last weekend.................we got to open bowl. We bowled a 10 game set....................he averaged 252...............a high water mark for him so far. He was KILLING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! 77% strikes...22% spares.................he had 1 open frame in 10 games!............. 1 split open.....(big4)........do the math. He Killed it...........LOL It was fun to watch...... I averaged 209 and felt like a total chump........LOL
-
At one time, I was a scratch golfer....my son got me started bowling and I got to a 215 average.................he's already passed me up bowling...he kills it. As a dad, I don't let him win, but he does what he does....HE killis it.. very happy for him. He has the kind of talent..... I am sure he could be a scratch golfer of he gave it half effort, but he likes to bowl. When he was little....oh boy......he could hit the golf ball!! I will get him back......he can play!!
-
I haven't played much golf lately........... my 14 yr old son bowls tourneys and I've been spending my weekends watching him compete. He's 14 and bowls against kids 20 and under in the top scratch division. Big underdog..... he's already won a couple tourneys.... Wanna see how a 14yr old beats 20yr olds? So proud of him.....he has no fear and competes hard. Proud dad......he is a little guy, but I promise you......you don't want to bowl him head to head....he's a beast. When he was little, he showed crazy good golf skills, but he somehow transitioned to bowling. LONG STORY............LOL...he's good at it though. He had good golf talent too......I hope to someday get him back into golf.
-
yea....thats me.......just in case you wondered! LOL Nearly 50yr old dude...going with the flow! Tee it up!!
-
This goes way back when I was a relative golf noob in the early 1990s.................... Let me attempt to paint this picture: ........a shortish par3 playing steeply downhill through the trees. My group finished the hole and the next tee was a back-track trek up the hill to a teebox nearly next to the par3 box......We are waiting for the fairway to clear as a guy tees off on the par3 we just finished playing..........we hear the ball crack into the trees.....and curse words......and screams of elation shortly after!! You guessed it.....the guy hit the trees and caught a ricochet from the trees.............and jarred it. HOLE IN ONE....bounce out of the trees into the cup. LOL..................EPIC!!!!

Big JD fan....... I've met him at "The Memorial" more than once and he is the absolute best with the fans and overly generous with his donations for good causes to a fault. Yes...he's got issues, but he has a big heart and that is why he is a fan favorite. It's amazing he lived long enough to play the senior tour! .....I wish him the best!

I normally average well over 100 rounds along with more than a few years over 200. My priorities have changed for the next 4 years and then I'll be back......wedges blazing!!! I stopped my 2016 golf season cold turkey after the first week of september.........just shy of 80 rounds. This is the first time I have not eclipsed 100 in over 25 years. Yes...I'll be back playing again next year, but hitting 100 is highly doubtful. In 4 years....I'll be in golf "Golf Beast Mode"......

...................you might be a "non-golfer" if you don't pick-up a club you find laying on the ground!! Sooner or later, that player will circle back looking for it and you'll have it to give back. If not, turn it into the pro-shop.

Are you a Better Golfer than a Year Ago?
BuckeyeNut replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
My goal is not to get worse...LOL My season is shortened and I don't play as much....if I can hang where I am now.....I am good with that. -
Dude......you were talking Jibberish....... nobody knows WTF you said. LOL It's MOPAR or no car...........the jibberish part, what????????????????
-
OK....that made me laugh out loud! thanks.....There are 1,000+ criteria by my definition that would qualify any casual golfer as a........"NON GOLFER". A ball retriever is definitely one of them!! hahahahaha...good stuff!! My son bowls in at least 2 tourneys a week during bowling season...........which is essentially late August through June. (Nationals are a full week in July) We are driving down to Arkansas this weekend from Kansas City so he can bowl. That's how it is............. I can't imagine doing anything else, but watching my 14yr old kid bowl in the top scratch division against kids 20 and under.......and leave them scratching their heads how that little kid kicked their ass... (sometimes)
-
Niiiice!!!! With that said....from a buckeye nut to a Bama fan......I beg to differ....it's MOPAR or NOCAR................. Oh yea...LOL
-
It's true! I have become a non-golfer!....................by my own standards!! LOL Do you remember the ..........."you are a non-golfer, IF....." ......threads? Yes, I started those threads!!! I stopped playing golf in 2016...hanging it up!! I have a golf membership, so I can play every day for the same price all year..... what is up with that? ...quitting. I played Less than 90 rounds in 2016 and already called it quits which is the least golf played in nearly 30 years.... I am living a world of complete insanity. My son is active in another sport and I mostly watch him do his thing....he bowls and is pretty good at it. In his age bracket, he's one of the top kids in the country. He got me started bowling so now I do it too and I bowl in three leagues, watch my kid bowl tourneys on the weekends.....my entire golf life is a mess right now.....LOL We spent a week at nationals last year and he didn't win, but he was right there and he was one of the top finishers. This is why I don't play as much golf..........watching the kid. He bowls in regional tourneys with kids from 4 states every month....competing in the top scratch division against kids 20 and under..........................my son is only 14..and WINS these events. Crazy.........I know................... He has some game....this is his first win against the older kids.... Sadly...I am a non Golfer now...!!!!!!

Drone gets in way of junior girl's drive, 2 PoV videos

Nice! -
Playing from 78 yards, it depends on the shot that is required. I may drive it in low to play for 2 big bounces with bite, or fly to the cup on the fly. Like isukgolf said (lol @ that name) ...... It depends on the shot that is required.

I can't answer that question, but I like it! It's getting me thinking........ I don't think I've ever played a round with 18 pars. I've had bogey free rounds before, but always screwed up "the par streak" with at least a birdie or two when playing that well....LOL I voted for 16, but it's just a guess. Coincidentally, my lowest ever score of -4 included two bogeys and a double!!! (I had 6 birdies and an eagle that day)

Very well done! How exciting.......

That wedge had character.............for sure!!!!! I probably carried it in my bag for longer than I should have to be for sure. That wedge was probably 6-8yrs old.....................it saw a lot of action. Wedges need to be replaced much more frequently.
