  1. American Golf runs 5 courses in SE Michigan and they are better than average. A regional thing maybe?
  2. Haven't checked out Wolf Creek but will in the future. I've golfed Legacy a few times, a nice fair course, nothing memorable except for maybe the last hole's long carry over water. Definitely do not play full price, I've found them on one of the teem time discount websites for $25 w/ cart.
  3. I played Leslie Park today, a muni in Ann Arbor that has been voted very high by Golf Digest. Very nice and we finished in 4 hours with a full course. Recommended.
  4. I always come back from Mexico with peso coins so I throw them in the bag and use them and also give them away if someone doesn't have a marker. They're two-tone like that Canadian Toonie and the coin from Thailand above so they're easily identified.
  5. There are a couple of enclosed heated golf ranges also. One is at I-275 & 5 Mile Rd and there may still be one at US-23 & M12. Couple more on the north side of Detroit but I'm not sure of their location. There is also some inside simulators that host leagues during the winter. I generally use Carls Golfland in Plymouth because my work is just a couple of buildings west of the site and I'll go there during lunch.
  6. Haven't played it/them but have heard good things about it. Popular for weekend outings.
  7. My daughter convinced me to take her cat for a short while......7 years ago. Keeps my yellow lab occupied (sometimes) and they both try to sit on me as soon as I plop down on the couch.
  8. Here's a product that can be used to repair & reuse broken wooden tees found at the course:
  9. yeah, right. 4th of July is not a Irish holiday.
  10. I have to agree with this. I found I liked the Nike Power Distance Softs for the short game and picked up a gross for $100 on ebay. For the 14 (at most) shots I'm hitting driver, I can't generate long distances (180-265) with my slow swing speed so as long as I can get over forced carries from the tee I'm happy (for now).
  11. Tons of good courses with reasonable fees. My favorites are the Jackal, Moose Ridge, Pierce Lake, Mystic Creek, Northville Hills, etc. I live/play mostly downriver on the flatter courses; Raisin River, Willow Metropark, Lilac, Links of Lake Erie, Lake Forest, Carrington, Legacy, etc.
  12. Wouldn't it be nice if it was that easy? Unfortunately it isn't.
  13. I'm hearing great things about the Callaway Diablo Edge.
  14. Why should it be one or the other? I do both and if time is really short, just the putting.
  15. Under the wood pile out back behind the shed. I have to chase out the rabbits that have burrowed in so I can play. duh
  16. I'm sure my weight distribution is not at those numbers but its definitely biased to the forward side - I'll get there, slowly. Gotta walk before I run. Another big change is that at the top of my back swing it feels like my back is facing the target. I'm sure its not that extreme but it feels very different. Scary how my shots accurately follow my setup, alignment, and target line. I'm now about a 1-1/2 clubs longer on distance than I was a couple of weeks ago. Sorry, I digress.
  17. I believe the benefit comes when the weight transfers back to the front side and is properly synchronized with the club swing & impact.
  18. Each move put a dumpster next to the moving van and as you carry your "stuff" out ask yourself "Is this thing really worth dragging around with me?". It its no, you know what to do.
  19. Many have heard of Chris Osgood ('97,'98,'08) so its safe to say he's not a no-name goalie.
  20. You previously stated "ALL". Thanks for retracting and saying "SOME". As for your thoughts on seat belts, I too don't think they are required. I do believe parents should insist their children wear helmets just as they do riding bikes, motorcyles, etc.
  21. Congrats! I hope you're younger than my brother who had his most recent when he was 47 years old. Crikey!
  22. Yep, found your problem right there. Need some vices man!
  23. I'm too old to give a hoot about popular opinion; if it works run with it. That being said I've borrowed a few key points from what I've read about S&T;, implemented it (correctly?), and I'm happy with the results: minimized the slice, increased distance & improved accuracy.
  24. C'mon MAN UP, nobody likes to hear about a quitter. We all go through slumps and get through it. Get drunk, experience a hideous hangover the next morning, throw up, and you'll be good to go.
  25. I have a 9 wood that I like for a specific shot: low trajectory, ballooning at the end, and dropping with just a little roll.
