  1. I golf most often with a friend and we play for skins...he sprays his drive often and it can get a bit tiresome.....so sometimes i don't bother helping him look for his ball...especially if it's quite opposite where my drive landed. When we get paired up with random 2somes....who lose quite a few golf balls....I might only help them 20% of the time...unless they lose their ball near a 'honey hole' so I might go over to hawk some balls quickly looking for their golf ball....never spending time delaying the PoP. I very very rarely get paired up with scratch players....they aren't common in random public play.....so I've never met an annoying scratch. BUT Years ago my wife asked me why I didn't play in more tournaments....I said.....I've played in a few events....but in my case...some of the single caps in the 4somes are so annoying and far too intense....the outings were not fun and not worth my time....life's too short...and I certainly didn't want to sit at the same table with some of them at the event's dinners.
  2. I read on GC's website that the final group on Sat at the KPMG took 5:18 hours to play 18 in a 3some....that is so PATHETIC. I've basically accepted the fact on public courses that a normal rd with take 4:30 hours to play 18....with slow and lousy golfers who don't care about pace of play. If we get around in 4 hours...it's a bonus.
  3. I assume most courses in Bellingham are getting aerated now?
  4. Most golfers only care about if you can keep up and not hold the group
  5. Hi Ace: Typo...I meant Varsity tennis....not golf. Hmmmm...if you have custom ski boots with fitted sole orthtics....those puppies are worth a lot. HUH....you only have one pair of golf shoes....is that because your husband keeps on tripping over your 50+ pairs of shoes in the walk-in closet and only gave you $100 for golf shoes. In a way...I think golf shoes are a SCAM....I have golf in running shoes....not much difference for me...just a bit less traction....I've decided to go to Gortex trail running shoes to play golf in our winter MUCK. So your instructor(s) are focused on teaching you gates....we did a clinic on gates at a charity Ronald McDonald House event at Whistler it was fun...the high level skiers and pros can really lean into those gates. Are you back to hitting heels shots on your driver?.....contact is most critical.....on the face of recent TM drivers..... if your rub some water on the face and then hit a shot....you can see your impact.....I always want to know where I hit the club face on all shots. Too bad your new club is so far away...you'd play more often if it was closer....the weather turned for the better today....so gonna do twilight later and more golf on Monday....Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and rain. Have you noticed my new avatar?....it's me 55 years ago🤣...find the attached video...it went viral....I think you've seen it before.....that missed putt cost me 2 skins.😁
  6. Difficult to reply without visualizing the gap....I do tend to be aggressive vs. hitting it out sideways.
  7. They erased the pairings on lpga.com....I wonder if other playing partners got the group on the clock and Spilkova and her loop didn't know how to 'play' the game and manage the clock to avoid a penalty....some guy on another forum said Carlota was playing really slow...but don't know if she was in Spilkova's group. Unlike the PGA....at least the LPGA hands out more slow play penalties....some critical ones I remember was in 2007 Angela Park was assessed a penalty late in the 4th rd in Hawaii and Pressel was assessed a slow play lost of hole late in the semi's against Munoz at the 2012 Sybase Match Play...Aza's only LPGA win....I think it was Aza who got the pair on the clock. It is BRUTAL watching some of the snails on the LPGA.....luckily I have a FF button. It also took Juice Boy a long time to hit his shot after he found his ball at the Shiners on Fri.
  8. Hi Ace @FlyingAce LOL....you're OUT OF CONTROL....5 pairs of skis and a 6th pair coming...that's whacked....just did a Google...and Kastle skis aren't cheap....so with bindings you have $10,000 worth of skis....let me guess....you have 3 ski boots in rotation.....let me guess you have 6-10 pairs of golf shoes....I have 4 pairs of golf shoes in rotation. Didn't know you snowboard too....I have never snowboard....I wanted to find some friends who have never snowboard and try it once but that never happened. If you consider yourself a 5.5 skier....and a 5,5 cap golfer....I think you're a better golfer than skier....I got my cap down to 6.7 recently and consider myself a far superior golfer vs. skier. I'm a 5.5 skier too....my right leg paralysis and atrophy limits me from going up level because of the limits in my right foot movement.....my ski accident happened in 1987....I was surprised to even get back up on skis and even play golf too...I thought I'd walk the rest of my life with a cane....but I do wear a plastic ankle&foot orthtotic. So are you working with an instructor to ski the steeps and tight moguls with more confidence? Didn't know you played varsity HS golf...you're quite the little jockette.😁.........I still find it hard to believe you find it difficult to find regular golf partners or have golfers invite you to play....makes no sense to me.
  9. Hi Ace: @FlyingAce So what was wrong with your driver swing that got corrected by the instructor? Your husband is correct....NM is at approximately 5000' elevation......so your ball will travel quite a bit further than what you find here in Vancouver at sea level or vacation i Hawaii. So are you going to rent a place at Taos for 4 months?....skiing 70 times a season is A LOT of skiing....good for you....even $1600 for a pass is considered somewhat cheap still. I thought you had bum knees that impede you from walking a lot with golf....wouldn't your bum knees affect your ability to ski and ski many times? Huh...WTF....you spend $2000 each year on new skis???....you are so SPOILED......I guess HAPPY WIFE...HAPPY LIFE...is your husband's motto?.....or maybe he doesn't have a choice😁.......I haven't skied since 2005.....I think my last skis I bought in 1999???....were $300 and I think I installed my old bindings......what skis do you have now? With local accommodations, ski passes, new ski equipment & apparel each year and high level private ski instructions...ya .....you may spend more on skiing vs. golf.....at this rate your husband may ask you to quit both and you can only play tennis on the free public tennis courts in NM without instructors.🤣 In the past...my company bought ski teaching packages from Ski Escapes for customer entertainment....I hosted some customers up at Whistler....our instructors were Karen Stemmele and Lisa Savejari (sp??)....past Canadian ski Olympians....they were so crazy good even in retirement....at one point they were skiing backwards talking to us while instructing the group. Based on the below link on ski ability from Whistler ski school....do you still consider yourself an intermediate skier? 10. IMO....because you went ahead and both hit the shorter ball in the fairway 1st...then that ball(s) is now in play. Why would you hit a provisional anyways?....if you don't find your 1st ball....then play the shorter one in the fairway....if you did decide to play the provisional one....you both both would then be hitting your 4th shot now (stroke and distance penalty associated with the provisional ball)...vs hitting your 2nd shots from the shorter ball from the fairway.
  11. Paige has been in front of the cameras for a while...hired by GC in 2015 and started some booth work in 2018. We see more Paige this year, as we see less of Judy as she nears retirement and less travel for her because of Covid. Paige is ok...she just needs to stop her continuous giggling...it's so obnoxious.....I use to like Paige as a player....I don't like Stupples...she talks too much. TV media work is difficult.....they all make it seem somewhat easy.....but it's not to speak with a fluid cadence in front of a camera.. Dame Laura Davies would be a good replacement for Judy....but it's too much work for LD's liking. Dottie Pepper would be ideal if GC could snipe her from CBS....but I believe there are still sore feelings in the women's golf community towards Pepper because of her "Chokin freakin dogs" comment at the 2007 Solheim Cup....IMO....Dottie would have made a great SC Captain. Koepka doesn't like Paige. "When you hear that annoying voice on TV and look up and see it's @paigegolf". Brooks Koepka Rips Golf Channel's Paige Mackenzie On Instagram Star golfer Brooks Koepka ripped Golf Channel announcer Paige Mackenzie for what she said about his recent Twitter post.
  12. Hi Ace: Yes, golfers who have game don't talk about it and let their sticks do the talking....oh ya...the POSER on Tuesday also said his prior scores were in the 70's.....he sulked many chips and every time he said he never does this....LMAO. A Korean lady I used to golf with (she moved back to Korea) said she didn't like to golf with some Koreans because they gossiped too much. Back in Feb...my friend got paired up with 3 Koreans....they started to chat and then the Koreans started to gossip about a woman....that woman was the lady I just mentioned....LOL. That's hilarious....I've never met a ski POSER, never mind a female ski POSER......so are these female ski POSER's just ski bunnies in their $2000+ Descente outfits who just hang out in the bar for ski apres??? 25 years ago....a co-worker from Toronto was out here for business....he had never skied Whistler...so he stayed the weekend. On the drive up...he said he skis the black diamond runs back in Ontario. Ontario doesn't have 'REAL' mountains....700" vertical....while Whistler/Blackcomb has 5300' of vertical drop. So I take him to a groomed blue run as our 1st run to get our legs warmed up.....he wouldn't go down this run....he ended up diverting to the green run....LMAO....I ended up just meeting up with him at the chair lifts for the rest of the day. Skiing is so expensive now....a full rack rate one day lift ticket at Whistler is $200 including taxes....WTF. So is Taos the best ski hill in NM?...where do you ski?....you getting a season's pass?....Covid will likely restrict the # of skiers per lift chair/gondola. I have 3 local ski hills only 15 minutes to switch back up the mountain to the parking lot.....Cypress Mountain held the 2010 Olympic mogul events.
  13. I'm no expert...but 4600 is still far too high....and I would assume it to be more swing issue mechanics vs. equipment....but glad to hear it was lower with a Mavrik. Back in Feb....I was able to demo most of the latest OEM drivers in a sim....a well struck drive resulted in ball speeds of 138-142 mph with 228-232 carry....generally total distance around 245-253 total distance.....but with the Mavrik I got a few 260-262....likely more rollout with a lower spinning head. BUT at my SS of 95-97 mph.....an uber low spin head isn't necessarily ideal for my swing. With your SS/ball speed I really believe you need a 10.5 head to help you generate trajectory and carry....but again I'm no expert....IMO...your high spin and trajectory (high cut slice) is due to mechanics vs. equipment. Likely a shaft 60 gm or less is ideal.....all OEM shafts have different profiles....there is no standard....a stiff for one OEM can feel really soft with a high torque of 4.5 and a stiff in another OEM stiff shaft can play really stout at 2.9 torque....and each OEM has many many different shafts models and weights, etc. I suggest you don't over complicate it....IMO.....it's all about FEEL....pick a shaft that FEELS the best that delivers you with a balance of distance and good dispersion. Maybe rather than spend the $100+ on a new shaft....get a lesson(s) to correct your swing. You can post a video of your swing on this site and there are sections in this forum where you can obtain some good swing tips from competent members here who can help guide you to fix some obvious issues.
  14. I call it STUPID.😁 Hello McFly...a guy walks up and looks like a peasant and wants to gamble????...LMAO. I might have played Miami G&CC....in January 1978.....I skipped 2 weeks of HS....I think my dad wanted someone to share the driving...LOL....we used to live in Hamilton, Ont.......to play golf for 2 weeks in Florida.....I really like playing there and watching all the planes flying over head....I didn't know of the history of the course.
  15. I always like to watch action on the great old time privates. The conditions and the course are beating up the gals.....always nice to see. Since 2015.....the PGA of America and KPMG have done a great job to get the ladies onto better tracks.....kudos....I went to Sahalee in 2016....the back 9 is so crazy good....I was also there in 2010 to watch the senators at the USSO. But a warning to everyone this week....keep your mute button handy....Paige MacKenzie's continuous giggling is so UNBEARBLE.
  16. Without seeing your driver swing....it's near impossible for anyone here to provide a good suggestion for you. If you are spinning your driver 6500 RPM.....I'd say it's poor technique vs. equipment issue....not to say a stiffer shaft or lower lofted head wouldn't help to lower the trajectory.....I'm thinking you're hitting poor high slices. I think one really needs to see you hit the ball at the range and when you do hit proper drives whether a 9.5/10.5/11.5 head is best suited.....dispersion counts too. IMO....the average golfer isn't generating enough club head speed to hit a head lower than 10.5....I've always believe loft helps....especially with dispersion.
  17. Hi Ace: Young lady...you gotta get out more....LOL...I can't believe you have never met a POSER......oh I forgot.....no one wanted to play golf with you at your old club.....with all your crazy stories about the NM golfers....surely you have played with some POSER's. Look at the definition of POSER in the link below. A golf POSER is someone who talks a big game but has no game.....they talk a lot of how far they can hit the ball and all their drivers are 320+ yards....yet they really only hit it maybe 190 yards tops....they are all DELUSIONAL.....IMO....basically all vanity cappers are POSER's. The POSER yesterday told my friend many times....I guess he thought my friend was gullible...the POSER just got his driver extended to 48" last week....his dad said he can hit it 280+ yards.....this POSER hit 8 drives maybe 15-50 yards....high pop up left balls lost into the woods...LMAO....like foul balls in baseball.......and put many dummy marks on his Callaway Epic driver....his longest drive was maybe 180 yards and was hooked into the woods....he only played 1/2 the time......mostly driving the cart....I'm too lazy to type some of the other stuff he said...they were all EPIC. The POSER told my friend he drove the green on the 14th hole from the blues last week....it's 362 yards....LMAO. Lots of POSER's play PXG😁 I love seeing all the POSER's at the range....all decked out in the latest golf fashion.....and $5000+ of the newest and greatest OEM sticks....hitting their shots maybe 100 yards. So do you have any POSER's stories? You'd have a great time golfing with me....I'd have you laughing for 4 hours with all my crazy stories....my friend has better stories too. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=posers
  18. The KP version I hate is when ya get a chance at the KP and ya 3 jack....you therefore get punished and have to pay the other 3 guys skins for your failed KP. So did the ANTI-POSER ask you to gamble?....that would be an obvious sign of a hustler. There are a few courses here that attract hillbillies but I can't think of a course in Bellingham that would be hillbilly city.....full length course....ya can't count in executive courses. I like the courses there.....except I find N. Bellingham a bit boring......I rarely crossed the border to play in the last 20 years...I did so more in the 90's
  19. He has the SS to play the Tiger ball...he just sprays the ball too much. He was in a hurry, so forgot to load his bag with lousy golf balls....he doesn't like the course we play because he doesn't score well on it. He ran out of lousy golf balls by the 11th and had to use his Tiger balls.....we had a long wait on 15...so I went hawking by the tee block and found 8 golf balls in the same area and gave him 3 lousy balls and he lost all 3....lol. We got paired up with YUGE POSER and his dad....it was EPIC.....so hilarious....you had to be there...you would have laughed your a** off.,,,,there are so many golf POSER's....always great entertainment....I'm just too lazy to type out the details....it's always better to see it 1st hand....POSER's are the funniest guys to golf with. QUESTION.....has anyone every played with a female POSER?....women are too smart to talk nonsense....I've played golf for 52 years and haven't met a woman even close to a POSER.....though I have heard 2 stories from friends who play with women who were complete b*tches.....ya read about them ever once in a while on some golf forums. I left 4 skins on the table on 16....double carryover KP and I was 2" off the green.....for our KP's ya can't 3 jack and collect.
  20. Hi Ace: Found another AVX yesterday....if we played together I'd give it to you.😁 Found some ProV1's too and some garbage balls but gave the lousy balls to my friend to lose...he was running out of golf balls....he lost 14 golf balls....... including 7 Bridgestone Tiger golf balls.....$35....lol. I lost one Project (a)....but I found it...so it was free.....I won 17 skins.😁 Since being transferred out here in 1992....between corporate swag and finding 100's if not 1000's of golf balls including many premium urethane golf balls....I haven't bought golf balls out here. We've had an amazing weather recently....very very difficult to find tee times....lots of courses aerating now but those courses are booked too...WTF. Covid is the worst thing for golf....too many Pink Shirts playing golf now and price gouging on green fees and equipment...ugh.
  21. FYI.....Popov who has struggled financially for years as a pro golfer....used her recent WBO winnings to buy a Trackman. https://www.golfchannel.com/news/sophia-popovs-one-major-expense-and-her-return-major-competition
  22. Didn't you say if you try...you can hawk 12-24 golf balls a rd at your new course....female hawkers are really rare. You Yanks luv everything YUGE...we bought a Costco BBQ chicken in Maui...the thing was the size of a turkey.
  23. Ouch....I've played in double shotgun charity/corporate scrambles in 5.5 hours with really lousy golfers....and it's not as if players at CB are spending a lot of time in the trees/woods looking for lost balls. I guess for $100 I'd put up with slow play.
  24. Hi Ace: The OP is asking about the Costco Cally Hex Tour Softs as described in my post above. Are those KSig's the original 4 pieces ones?.....I can't remember if it was the 2nd generation 4 piece or the 3 piece Ksigs that were manufactured in China...but they were terrible/garbage and Costco offered a full refund and I think one could keep the balls too.....the new 3 piece KSig's are ok...but lack distance off the tee....the reviews say so too. Hmmmm.....as a 5 cap PLAYA.....I'm surprised you'd buy/play the Hex Soft or Superhot?....I thought it would be a premium urethane ball or nothing for you....and considering you find so many golf balls on your new course...I thought you wouldn't need to buy golf balls. I have found some...IMO....I like the Hex Soft over the Cally Supersoft.....but would only play the Hex Soft in the winter on a cold and wet day.
  25. I bought a used M3 last year and I like it.....I really wanted a M4 but couldn't find a used M4 at a good price at the time....the M3 came with a Tensei Blue stiff shaft...I thought it was a tad soft and sold the shaft for $95. I use to play a Jetspeed and a friend gave me a Fujikura Speeder 57 stiff shaft 'made for" the R15 for the Jetspeed....I like the shaft and using it in my M3 now. Try to look for a used TM stiff shaft on Craigslist, Kiijiji, or other golf forum BST's...likely can find one for $60-$80 and sell your TM regular shaft for $50-$70.....regular shafts don't sell as well as stiff shafts. Any TM shaft adapter from the R1 and on up will fit your M3.
