  1. Out of all these replys, you were the only one that had Cabrerra's name. Good Job

    First Round

Glad you enjoyed it. I remember my first time which was last year. I never kept score and played pretty badly but on the 17th par 3 that all changed. I hit my tee shot which actually went straight and stuck about 5 feet away from the cup....of course I missed the birdie putt but I had a par in my first round ever.
  3. Probably a hell no, there are members on here that have a +handicap index and I don't believe they are bringing home the bacon. Some are but you have be at least scratch or better to even come close.

    Bay Hill

What a putt to win. That is clutch. Can't believe O'Hair dumped it into the water on the 16th.
  5. I like Match Play. Being a high handicapper, it is not uncommon to see me record an 8 or 9 on the score card. In Match play, if I do that on a hole, that means I only lost that hole and not down 8 strokes going forward.
  6. Blah, last August...We had some decent weather the last couple weeks and then we got dumped on with snow the last few days.
  7. They pretty much do it in every other sport, I don't see a problem with it.
  8. Reminds me of a good friend of mine. He will shoot a 6, tell you he shot a 5, and then write down a 4 on the scorecard. Needless to say, he dosen't keep score anymore.
  9. I love playing scrambles, especially as a high handicapper. Usually I am going with one of my partner's shots but it feels great to hit the nicest shot out of the 3 other golfers who are better than you. I also concur that it is way to easy to cheat but in all of the scrambles that I have played, they have all been for charity and to have a few beers with friends.
  10. Holy carp, how the heck are you a 25 handicap and hit the ball 360 yards. I am a high handicapper and I think my max with roll is 230ish lol.
  11. See my thread a few spots down. I am taking lessons in the offseason for $150 for 4 - 90 minute sessions, including the last session where we play on a private course. That is a rare deal though, other than that, it seems they average around $40 around here.
  12. First lesson tonight went great and he showed me some really basic things that I think will help a lot. Main things I learned tonight were grip and posture. I was really hitting my irons a lot better than before. Can't wait to practice at the range or on a course rather than indoors. The video recordings were cool. After learning the new grip and posture and we watched the before and after videos, it was night and day. One problem now that we are going to work on next week is that my swing is way to high and steep. We are going to work on keeping it lower with more arm extension. The teacher gave me some positive feedback and positive thoughts.
  13. So I am headed to my first lesson in about 7 hours after work. Anything that I should bring or prepare for? I brought a pen and notepad to take some notes but will I have time to take notes?
  14. I have never personally met the golf pro but I have heard good things. He seems to be the one most in demand around my area. I should have mentioned the pricing and sessions in my earlier post but I was on work time hehe. A guy on my hockey team who is pretty close to a scratch golfer goes to him on a regular basis. He mentioned that the pro is doing some indoor lessons and is only taking 4 people. I was one of the lucky 4. It's $150 for four 90 minute sessions indoors. However, last year, and I am not sure about this year, but for the last session, he takes the foursome to his private club around here and will walk you thru 9 holes and let you play out the back nine. As I said, I am raw so I imagine I have many flaws but I think this will help. I will be sure to update as the sessions go on.
  15. Well, I am getting ready to enter my second full season of golf this year and have been looking forward to it since my final round last year. Last year was pretty raw and hit mostly in the hundred and teens usually. Gradually I was hitting in the mid 100's and then one day I finally broke an honest 100 with a 98. My friends and I have been just getting into golf so a few of them that started a year before me showed me the basics which I am sure there are plenty of bad habits that I have picked up as well. Well, this Friday will be my first session but due to the snow, it will be an indoor session for the first few rounds. I am not sure how it will work but I understand that the pro will be videotaping me so I am sure that will help. My goal in the beginning is grasp some of the basic fundamentals and go from there. Interestingly enough, I can hit my driver pretty good most times, 220-230 + roll and fairly straight. It is my irons that I can't really hit a lick, especially the mid-long irons. I am pumped for these lessons and happy that I will get to actually swing a club for the first time since September. Hopefully, I will learn a few things that will translate to double digits on the course this year.
  16. You guys are lucky, we probably won't have our courses open until the end of April, first of May. Even then, usually due to all of the rain, the courses are pretty mushy and the greens aren't finished.
  17. I would have started testing a new driver out and see if he wants to stop the ball then.
  18. Any thoughts on the Cleveland VP 509 Putter?
  19. I am looking forward to entering some tournaments as my golfing skills progress. However, since I just took up the game a year ago, I am holding off until I can at least break 100 consistently and probably wait until I can break 90 consistently. I did play in a few Best Ball/Scrambles and had a blast.

    Mini Tour Play

How did you make out on the Pepsi and GS tour?
  21. I am in the same boat. On the east coast of Canada, golf season ends around mid-end of October and opens end of April. The only thing I have remotely done was swing my 60degree wedge around in the living room. There is a golf dome that just opened about an hour away from me that I might take a drive up on the weekend to check out.
  22. Thanks for including Canada. I think most Canadians would be happy to enter this contest to win a Leupold and only pay a few bucks for shipping.
  23. Agreed!!!!!!
  24. I don't think being a member on here for less than a year qualifies as many moons. Thanks for the contest.
  25. That's pretty crazy, doing the math off the top of my head assuming that the season is from April 1st to November 30th, that would be 214 days. He would have had to play every single day with two rounds in one day in some instances.
