  1. Watched some of this on YouTube and it is impressive watching. Couldn't watch it all the time but go for once a year stuff.
  2. Thanks @mvmac I see it now. Does the left hand play any part in the bending of the left arm? I feel like I cup my left hand a bit but when I try feeling it flat it seems like it's a better position at the top?
  3. Thanks @mvmac I'll get working on it. I assume there should be a picture there but it doesn't seem to show for me, same right arm thumb jpg?
  4. Anyone got any thoughts on this, or if there's some else more glaring I should work on?
  5. Very rarely for me. Only one time I can think of. Shot front 9 38, 4 over and 5 under handicap. Tried not to think about it and the good round I was having then some how came back in 55. I can remember over a few shots that I didn't feel right but it was the first time I had put my self in that position. I know next time I get there I won't blow up like I did.
  6. It just goes to show how much of the players planning is based on good play, this and the Kaymer case shouldn't have happened if they planned to play more than just the required amount.
  7. What tends to be your issue with putting? Distance, line, stroke? What kind of putter do you use?
  8. Been ingraining the changes more this week in the house doing some mirror work, straight feet just feels weird now. Putting feeling good now with the Super stroke slim fitted, a better fit in the hands. Of the trained eyes on hear, would any say my backswing length is of any issue? The right side is from about a month a go left is just last week. Its better but could/should it be better? If I was to try shortening it a bit more would I see any benefit or would it be wasted time? If that is it an issue is there anything else that is that I should work on? I've got till next April before the club starts up comps again, I'm a 19 now I want that to drop by time the comps roll around. I'm not happy with mediocre golf anymore, I'd like to be able to compete with the best at my club.
  9. Sound like a good day out.
  10. Good to see this. Makes sense after all the Irish success in majors the last few years. Also the Irish open has been a great success the last couple years so they know there will get a lot of fans down. I had herd that Royal Lytham and St Annes may be the likely one to drop out of the current rota. I hope it doesn't as I Like the course. For me Turnberry would be one to go, nice course and great views when I went to the women's open this year but I can't see it holding up much longer for the men's game.
  11. I like these. Will defo be putting the work in over the winter on putting. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Yes I'd listen in. Anything about golf would be good to hear for me anyway. I'd say about a 20 minute podcast would be good, not too long but long enough.
  13. I'd stick with the stiff shafts. If this was just your first range session with them then I wouldn't expect you to be hitting them good straight away. I changed my driver about a month ago, and only just this weekend am I getting consistent results with it. It's the same with all new equipment you hit some good ones and some shockers. At least give it a few more range sessions to see how you get used to them.
  14. If there was no one in front of them and you were on the tee at the same time, I'd have just asked to play through. Worst they will say is no, and if that's the case and there is no one behind you just stay at the green a bit longer hitting different chips/putts or play two balls like a worst ball scramble with yourself which will add a bit more time to play the hole and stop the waiting.
  15. Impressive stuff from Andy to get his 3rd win of the year. Can definetely see bigger wins for him in the future.
  16. Don't see any issue of having a think before hand of what set up you want to have. Will be good for the conversation between you and the fitter. I thinks it's more of being a bit open minded when you do go in that what you have thought might not be the best set up and being happy with changing on what you originally wanted. But at the end of the day enjoy the experience.
  17. Managed to get a couple videos today and things seem to be going well. Flaring the feet out does create a better turn for me which in turn has created a slightly shorter swing. The extra club length is still there, possible half a club more now as well. But with it getting to winter and the colder morning it's hard to tell really, come warmer weather it could be different. Thanks @mvmac for the advice so far, certainly playing better golf now.
  18. I would think that it could be down to how you practice. If you are standing in one stop hitting the same put 2-3 times your adjusting for the speed of the green etc. On the practice green you should never try to play the same put twice, moving around different targets is best as this keeps the mind thinking about it.
  19. ok no problem. I'll try get a video sometime this week and have a look. Thanks.
  20. Plus 1 for North Berwick and gullane. Two of my favourite courses to play.
  21. @mvmac been looking at this and it feel good. Just a couple questions, with this it feels like the backswing is shorter due to a more stable base, is this just a feel or is that actually happening? Also on the downswing it feels like I'm going more down the line through impact instead of cutting left like I normally do, again is this a feel or actually something that could actually be happening? I don't have the chance to film right now to see what is happening, range I go to is closed for some reason. But are these something that would happen as a result of flaring the feet, or is it just all a feeling?
  22. It not superiority at all, I just don't see why someone two bays down, stretching or mucking about with balls would annoy you. If your getting distracted by something like that your not really paying attention to what your doing and there for not working on what you came to do. Maybe it's just me, but when I go to the range I go to work on something I don't spend my time looking at what others are doing. It's not going to benefit me in any way.
  23. I never notice people at the range. I just go to work on what I need, couldn't care less what anyone else is doing.
  24. I used to see a pro and only took my instruction from him. Everything was great and I was happy with where my swing was going. I tried to stay away from looking on the net, books, magazines ect. for swing tips except for when I knew I was looking for a certain aspect to work on. But I had a bad experience with a club fitter that works out of the pros shop. I went to get a new shaft for my driver and instead of being fit for the shaft he fit me for a new driver. I advised that I wasn't looking to upgrade driver just the shaft. He advised that the one I had was no good for me and that I needed something else. The fitter was recommended to me by my pro. It left a bad taste in my mouth so to speak, and I know its not really the pros fault but I feel a little conned into trying to buy a new driver. I did get a new one in the end, not from there but else where after trying a few out and finding one I liked and a less than half the cost. I am now not sure whether to go back to him for lessons or look else where. I do like the guy and he has got me to a better place with my swing, but in the back of my mind there is that wee bit of doubt. I have got a few tips from the MySwing thread which have been really helpful. In regards to other aspects of the game, mental side etc. I will generally look online or in books as I feel that this area is subjective and I would rather have chance to look over it time and again, instead of just having one session a time.
