Yes, I tilt. I address the ball and line up then right before the backswing I tilt it forward. I get a truer roll of the face.

IMO Feel is more important. Then looks, then brand.

Anyone ever get fitted for irons at Golfsmith?
skierbri10 replied to Finn07's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I got fitted at GS and the measurements told me that I could use standard lies and lenths. My swiing speed was enough for a stiff flex. Not the best fitting I have received, but was acurate. If I had wanted to wait for them I could have had custom clubs that were 1/4" longer. But I didn't need it. -
DirecTV has done a mix channel for this years masters. It covers Amen Corner, hole 15-16 and normal coverage, as well as the days highlights. They also have the leaderboard to view. It is quite nice, I wish all touneys were like this. BTW you can view any of those channels in full screen and they are all high def....sweet.

You guys are all right. However, do you think this will come up on any other circumstances? The players can fall back on "etiquette" if they are able to.

Certainly makes it more fun for us to watch...I bet the pros are hating it though.

Whats the best course with a waterfall?
skierbri10 replied to Ruari's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
Yeah, if you click on #4 and then click on the picture of the waterfall you can get a snapshot....Looks interesting....The course is not my type I an a golf traditionalist but I would play this course once to see that baseball hole...lol -

I usually use a personal technique that I learned when I was HS baseball pitcher.....When I get in a mess, I just think about what I am going to do after the round....I think about getting food afterwords or whatever I can think of....Basically just get your mind off of the game and the next shot. It will calm you down and mentally "reset" yourself... Now that will be $10,000 for that advice..... lol

This will be the first time for to ever not watch any part of the Summer Olympics. I do not feel that China has any right to host an event like this.

Its funny when chops play blades.
skierbri10 replied to kekoa's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
This all happened to me once, I saw a guy with brand new clubs, he was litterly using the box they came in as a bag. lol Anyway, they were nice Hogan Apex blades and he was hacking away. I started up a conversation with him and eventually let him try my Hogan Edges. He hit them much better, so he offered me his Hogans for a pitcher of beer....I was only 17 then lol but I gave him 10 bucks (not a typo) for them and he went off to buy some Edges. I saw him later that month and he was hitting his new Edges way more consistantly and I was hitting my brand new Apex's nicely. Turns out he was a CEO or something of a movie studio.....I forgot his name I think it was for Universal. Anyhow, next time you see a guy like that chat up with him, maybe let him use your clubs if they are not blades and maybe you will luck out on a nice new set of clubs for cheap..... -
Just saw this on the USGA.com site.......Interesting interpertation. The R&A;, USGA Announce Position On Raking A Similar Hazard April 8, 2008 E-mail address: mediarelations@usga.org The Joint Rules Committee (JRC), consisting of representatives of the Rules of Golf Committees of The R&A; and the United States Golf Association, have issued an interpretation of Rule 13-4a with respect to testing the condition of a similar hazard (whether a bunker or a water hazard). At its customary April meeting, the JRC reviewed several issues relating to Rule 13-4 (Ball in Hazard; Prohibited Actions), including some that were carried over for resolution from the previous quadrennial Rules revision cycle. One such question was whether a player whose ball lies in a bunker may smooth sand to tidy up another bunker, even though he had not made a stroke from that other bunker. After discussion, the JRC agreed on the following position, effective immediately: Rule 13-4a prohibits a player from testing the condition of the hazard in which his ball lies or a similar hazard. Yet Exception 3 to the Rule, which was introduced in 2008, allows a player to test the condition of one hazard after playing from that hazard into a similar hazard. Although Decision 13-4/0.5 lists smoothing a bunker with a rake, club or otherwise as an example of testing the condition of the hazard, the Etiquette Section of the Rules of Golf provides that "Before leaving a bunker, players should carefully fill up and smooth over all holes and footprints made by them and any nearby made by others." It is not the intent of Rule 13-4a to prohibit players from practicing the proper etiquette of the game when more than one bunker is involved. Therefore, when the player’s ball lies in a bunker, it would not be a breach of the Rules if the player were to smooth the sand in another bunker, provided (a) the smoothing is for the purpose of tidying up the bunker, (b) the smoothing does not breach Rule 13-2 (Improving Lie, Area of Intended Stance or Swing, or Line of Play) with respect to his next stroke and (c) there is not a reasonable possibility that the smoothing could affect a subsequent stroke by the player. If the player were to smooth sand in the bunker in which his ball lies prior to making his first stroke in that bunker, he would be in breach of Rule 13-4a. While the JRC does not normally make public the results of its deliberations outside the updates of the Decisions on the Rules of Golf every two years and the Rules of Golf every four years, The R&A; and the USGA do informally answer questions about the Rules of Golf as those questions arise. Questions have arisen in connection with a recent ruling involving Stewart Cink at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. In that situation, the player incurred a penalty for smoothing sand in a bunker from which he had not made a stroke, when his ball lay in another bunker -- a ruling that followed the USGA’s Rules of Golf Committee’s position at that time. To avoid such an act being a breach of the Rules in the future, the JRC has decided to make public its agreed position on smoothing a similar hazard.

Rule 18-2b Ball Moving After Address If a player’s ball in play moves after he has addressed it (other than as a result of a stroke), the player is deemed to have moved the ball and incurs a penalty of one stroke. The ball must be replaced, unless the movement of the ball occurs after the player has begun the stroke or the backward movement of the club for the stroke and the stroke is made.

The story behind everything...what's in your bag?
skierbri10 replied to lamebums's topic in Golf Talk
New Updates in red ..... Driver: Affinity Pro 10* Don't know much about the company, but I bought it for $6 at the Kaneohe Bay BX a couple of year ago....I hit it quite well. 3-Wood: Zevo...$29 job Irons: TaylorMade R7 TP 3-PW....I have always hit Taylor's very well. I just recently purchased them and my one time at the driving range afforded me 10+ yards extra carry, more controlability and soon a better game. Wedges: Cleveland 588 Sand Wedge (56*) Harmony Lob Wedge found at SportMart for $4.99 all the others were $30 so I bought it. I have holed out with it a few times. Putter: Odyssey Dual Force #5 Bag: Taylormade, can't remember the model at the moment, but it is brand new and a carry bag. It was only $60 at Golfsmith. Ball: I use various balls, I have some Strata Professional Balatas, and some Wilson Tour's.....I used to buy Slazinger balatas back in the 90's and they were $60-$80 a 12 pack. Yikes!!! But I have never played any better ball, I can't find them now, of course. Shoes: Footjoy all black Terrains Glove: Footjoy, no other compares. -
I have read and heard good things about them. I haven't used them myself.....that is the only info I can give ya....plus this is basically a bump, because I am curious myself....

Why do all the tour players wear something on their heads?
skierbri10 replied to JerseyThursday's topic in Tour Talk
I think it also has to do with sun protection. I always wear a hat or a visor. I for one don't want skin cancer. Did you see how lathered up Jose Maria Olazabal was last week? He looked like a ghost... -
I will be, in HD at that... I will be here with my 7 week old son Rowan.....

I would work on your irons, and hit greens more often and closer to the hole.

Why you should ALWAYS get fitted by a professional
skierbri10 replied to nykfan4life's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I worked at Gart Sports here in Colorado for awhile. Gart is now Sports Authority.....Anyway, to their credit, there are some good sales people that know what they are talking about. Overall, though you better do your research and rely on their sales people. -
Advice needed, looking for wedge shaft
skierbri10 replied to King Norre's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have the same, but opposite problem. I can't get past the mental aspect of graphite shafts on irons. Crazy, because I can usually block out anything I want mentally. -
