It's sad that Adam Scott's win has been overshadowed by another Tiger debate.
-
Graeme McDowell. Needless to say I was not very happy last weekend I really enjoying watching Adam Scott's full swings, I enjoy watching Tiger's all around game, and I like Phil's aggressiveness. Apparently these three might be paired up next weekend?? That's going to be amazing. But yeah, McDowell just seems like a solid guy and when he gets on fire (rare) it's super fun to watch. He enjoys a good pint of Guinness too.

GAHH! I was really hoping for a Justin Rose/Adam Scott playoff. That would have been fun. Congrats to Adam though, love his swing, he's been so solid lately.

I'm sure plenty of people have seen this already but I found it interesting, this is off of Tiger's website. 7:30 a.m. - One hour of lower weight training. 60-70 percent of normal lifting weight, high reps and multiple sets. 8:30 a.m. - High protein/low-fat breakfast. Typically includes egg-white omelet with vegetables. 9:00 a.m. - Two hours on the golf course. Hit on the range and work on swing. 11:00 a.m. - Practice putting for 30 minutes to an hour. Noon - Play nine holes. 1:30 p.m. - High protein/low-fat lunch. Typically includes grilled chicken or fish, salad and vegetables. 2:00 p.m. - Three-to-four hours on the golf course. Work on swing, short game and occasionally play another nine holes. 6:30 p.m. - 30 minutes of upper weight training. High reps. 7:00 p.m. - Dinner and rest. Here is my normal work day in comparison. 9:00 a.m. - Wake up, kick the annoying cat out of the room..back to sleep. 11:00 a.m. - Wake up for real. High protein/high fat quesadilla. Check Facebook. Noon - Go out to garage, swing clubs, putt a bit, listen to CCR, have a glass of wine. 1:30 p.m. - 3rd glass of wine. Bitch and moan to wife that I haven't done anything today, she agrees, I go to gym. 2:00 p.m. - Half hour on treadmill watching Golf Channel. (tomorrow I'll be on the treadmill for an hour because of Barclays!) Free weights for whatever I feel needs to be worked on. 4:00 p.m. - Head to work 8:00 p.m. - Most likely Chipotle 11:30 p.m. - Day dream about golfing, maybe do a couple push ups. 2:00 a.m. - Head home...might get to watch Feherty Show....but will most likely be watching whatever wife is.

Every single course in my area is a top of the line Golf Club (Hazeltine is the closest) that my poor soul will likely never be able to step foot on. If I drive 25-30 miles I can play a crazy little 9 hole course that's just $10 after 6:30 p.m. :D

How about two aces....back to back!? http://www.kare11.com/news/article/1035241/391/81-year-old-golfer-scores-back-to-back-hole-in-ones

I'm going to predict Henrik Stenson with the win this weekend. I get excited with any tournament that has the best players in the world. Should be entertaining!

I didn't read your whole thread nor am I an instructor or pro. But yes...yes you should. I've loved golf my whole life and only just recently started playing at 26 years old. While playing hockey my senior year I found out that my high school had a golf team. Although I could have done both, I would have dropped any sport I was playing to try to make the golf team immediately. I don't regret many things but I wish I would have known there was a golf team haha. Forget about jocks, forget about anyone making fun of you, you most likely won't see any of them in 2 years anyway. Do whatever makes you happy. If you make the team then you deserve to be there no matter what anyone says. If you don't then just continue to practice and try again next year!

Can't put too much stock into this....Wisconsin should be drunkest state by tenfold.

The Virtue of Being a Stupid Monkey (and How it can Help Your Golf Game)
Crim replied to iacas's topic in Swing Thoughts
I have to admit...this thread (if not joking) is a major breath of fresh air. I consider myself a stupid monkey. I'm not very proud to say it but you are what you are. When you guys are talking about swing arcs, degrees, and blah blah blah...my mind goes numb. When I started playing semi-seriously at the beginning of the this summer...I hit the ball beautifully. Everyone that watched me play thought I had been playing for years. Then something happened, I read (not on this forum) that your swing should look nice and easy...like you're not swinging 100%. This stuck in my head, I felt that I was swinging too hard despite the fact that I was contacting great every time. For the the last 2 months I've worked on swinging nice and easy, my game has deteriorated HORRIBLY. Timing is off which means everything else is off. Finally...last weekend...on the 5th hold of a 9 hole course, I basically told my father in law and golf partner in tournaments.."I don't know what to do, I'm extremely frustrated and well...f*ck it...I'm just going to swing hard again." On the last 4 holes I stuck the ball within 10 feet of where I wanted it...every time. I realized something that day, I really need to stop thinking so much. I'm not a genius, although I think myself creative and clever at times, I can't think about anything but swinging hard (though not off balance) at the ball. Hopefully this good luck and thought process (or lack thereof) will continue into this weekend and next month when I have another tournament. I still need a lesson though. :D -
Indeed! Lots of good ideas in there. Your grandpa sounds like the best!

My first child comes into the world in a few months...having a boy! I'd like to hear any and all tips that you guys/gals have. I may be looking quite a ways ahead but my father in law and I have already been keeping our eye open for mini clubs. I'm a pretty relaxed guy, I'll never push him into something he doesn't like....if he wants to eventually get into wrestling, hockey, or hell...ballet...that's fine...maybe. But what youngin' doesn't like swinging a stick at a ball? What would you do to keep the experience enjoyable at a young age? When to get his first golf lessons? etc.. Anything and everything, I'd love to hear it!

I haven't been golfing very long but so far I've had many good days and many bad...both days are a ton of fun and better then sitting on my butt at work or in front of a television.

Sergio is the worst. Poulter is getting up there.
-
Nice, looks like it's $125 per hour. I'd assume that's a tad higher then normal but I suppose you're getting a high quality coach so it evens out. Thanks Bjorn!

I made my first birdie on the very first hole I ever played on a very short par 3 course in Burnsville, MN. I was with my mother and father in law who are really into golf and I didn't even know what club to use. I think I grabbed an 8 iron and stuck it like 4 feet from the pin. I thought "hey, this is pretty damn easy, I'll just do that every time." Then I preceded to double bogey everything. The look on the in laws faces were priceless though.

I'm looking to take some lessons in the next couple weeks. Before I start searching around I figured I'd check here first. Anyone know of a solid teacher in the Twin Cities/Suburbs area in Minnesota?
-
Right now...Jack. When all is said and done...Tiger.
-
Nice! Congrats guys! Makes it 1000x better that it's a 1st time Major winner as well.
-
I think it was Poulter http://ftw.usatoday.com/2013/08/ian-poulter-wants-to-tazer-the-muppets-who-shout-after-tee-shots/ Which is surprising considering his flashy attire, I just wouldn't think he'd care about rowdy fans yelling AFTER the ball is struck. Not once did I hear someone yell during the back-swing. I think Poulter is just mad that he couldn't make it under par on any of his rounds.

I enjoyed the Chewbacca one for Dufner, assuming they were referring to this...
-
I don't mind it as long as they wait an ample time after the ball is hit. Anyone that makes a peep before contact is made should be escorted out immediately. I voted for #4 though.
