  1. I would just like to point out that most of these balls have been recovered from water hazards. Balls that have spent time in a water hazard will start to lose considerable distance off the tee. You may want to consider this when purchasing these balls.
  2. I just picked up a box of pro v1 x-outs from my local dick's sporting goods. They were $29.99. I've played them in the past and have had really good results. Anyone else try these?
  3. My dick's also had the pro v1 x-outs for $29.99. They are no different than the regular pro v's except for the fact that they come in a black and white box and say x-out on the balls.
  4. I just cashed in my amex membership rewards points for a vokey spin milled w/ 7 bounce. I can't wait to get it. I already have a 54 degree vokey and love it.
  5. After a little digging on the internet, I came up with this: "...So is a ball inferior, if it has been submerged in a body of water? 'Yes' says an U.S. Army Research Laboratory study. Golf balls absorb water that cannot be removed and this affects a permanent change. Testing by Golf Digest in 1996 found a golf ball submerged in water loses six yards after one week, 12 yards after three months and 15 yards after six months. and this: "...The covers of golf balls are pourous and will absorb water; this changes the viscoelasticity of the cover and the golf ball will fly significantly less far..."
  6. I'm sure many of you here have purchased "used/refurbished/recycled" golf balls in the past. I've considered doing this b/c it is an excellent way to buy pro v1's at a significant discount. The problem is that may of these balls are retrieved from water hazard. Once a ball has been submerged in the water for a number of days it begins to lose its playability. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a place that sells golf balls that have been retrieved from the woods or brush and not from a water hazard.
  7. I've got two hybrids and I replaced both of the graphite shafts with steel shafts. I would never put graphite shafts on my irons and I think the swing on a hybrid is similar to that of an iron.
  8. I'm travel next month and will be flying for the first time with my clubs. I need to get a travel case, but can't decide between a hard case or a soft case. It would seem that a hard case is the way to go b/c you don't have to worry about the shafts getting bent from the careless airline workers. Then again hard cases might be more difficult to fit in the trunk of a rental car. The soft cases tend to be a little less expensive, but that isn't much of a factor in my decision. Any advise is appreciated.
  9. I live in Wisconsin, so I only have about 5 good months of golf throughout the year. I often wonder how good my game would be if I didn't have the layoff. How do you stay sharp if you can't golf year round where you live?
  10. Most refurbished/remanufactured balls have been pulled from ponds and may have been sitting there for quite some time. This causes them to absorb some water and lose their playability. I would rather buy a new box of titleist nxt balls than spend the same price for refurbished pro-v1s for the same price. I always like to know that I am going to get the same response from every ball I hit and with refurbished balls, it is always a guessing game.
  11. After 20 years how can there be any groves left on the face?
  12. I bought a spin milled 54 a couple months ago. It has made a huge difference in my short game. Well worth the money. I'm actually thinking about getting either a 58 or a 60.
  13. I'm actually playing there in the morning. What a small world.
  14. I would check rockbottomgolf.com They have a few sets under $200.
  15. I would suggest slowing your swing down a bit. For me I have found that this can help me correct my mistakes. Once I have figured them out, then I swing a little faster and eventually back to normal.
  16. Here's my home course. It is just south of Green Bay. David Ortiz has a house on the course. http://www.royalstpatricks.com/dev/index.php
  17. Phil is one of the few golfers that is arrogant enough to make that mistake.
  18. I picked up a bunch of Titleist Gran Z's at Golf Galaxy. They were $1.50 each and are supposed to be the Japanese version of the Pro V1. They supposedly retail for $80 in Japan.
  19. I can't wait until the u.s. version starts with Adam Carolla. I love listening to his podcast. He is very entertaining.
  20. My best round is an 80 with a double on the last hole. I was so pissed! I shot an 84 last week, so hopefully I'll have another chance to break 80 in the near future.
  21. I've always said that if I had the money I would design and build my own course. I would have to win the lottery for this to happen, but there's always a chance.
  22. I've got an stx mallet putter that I love to death. I've tried other putters, but nothing compares to my stx.
  23. Whistling Straits, followed by Black Wolf Run and then Trappers Turn.
  24. I'm and underwriter for an insurance company south of Green Bay. Not the most exciting job in the world, but it pays the bills.
