  1. To me it comes across on tv at least as a bit more interesting of a course than Bay Hill but I have no real knowledge of either beyond that.
  2. All good. Yea, it’s a bad sad but the API field has definitely been weak the last several years. I love that Tiger is playing it and presumably always will as long as his body lets him.
  3. Just making what I believe to be a factual statement....I haven’t looked at any actual odds but I would have to believe he is/will be the betting favorite. I understand that Vegas odds for Tiger have gotten a bit of ahead of themselves at times during his prior comeback attempts but it’s Bay Hill and Tiger. He could have won this week on a course not particularly well suited for him so I’ve got to believe he will be and deserves to be the favorite at a course that he has (arguably) played better than anywhere else during his career.
  4. Tiger has to be the odds on Vegas favorite to win next week
  5. Gotta think this upcoming putt at 13 is a must make.
  6. Very much agreed
  7. I don’t want to put words into someone else’s mouth but I believe he’s making the point that the SOF difference between the 70s and 90s might not be as dramatic as some on here contend and he’s using the 97 field as an example of that. Acknowledging that of course it didn’t matter to the outcome of that event but it matters (for some) when thinking about tiger’s record vs. jack’s. I’ve acknowledged all along that Tiger beat significantly better fields than Jack...I’ve just never been fully committed to whether that difference was enough to make 14>18. Maybe it is, I don’t know. Or maybe it isn’t but Tiger is still the goat. I’ve also always said that if Tiger could extend his major career past the age of 32 then I would say he is the uncontested goat and it’s looking like that could happen. I hope it does. I think right now an objective person can make a reasonable argument for either guy. If Tiger wins 5-10 more tournaments and 1-2 more majors, I don’t think there’s any discussion to be had.
  8. Ahh yea...I meant disparaging...not sure if that was autocorrect or if I’m just an idiot and mistyped.
  9. Huh? I’m confused... I never said you deleted posts.
  10. Everything short of undying Tiger praise in this thread doesn’t need to be met with a barrage of disappearing comments. @MuniGrit already pointed out that Tiger would have beaten any field in 97 and that Tiger played the game at the highest level of anyone in history. On another note, I’ve always been somewhat agnostic on the goat arguement because Jack and Tiger are apples and oranges IMO to some extent. But if Tiger keeps this up, I’m willing to admit he’s the uncontested goat.
  11. Mickelson hits into the spectators most every week But yes I agree, they have been scary close at times.
  12. I’ve said it before but I’ve never understood why the RC (at least in recent years) has had such a bias to the northern tip of the country. Most all of our players live in south Florida and don’t like playing in sub 75 degree weather yet we make them play in Minnesota in October...in weather the euros are much more used to. I would be all for a RC in Texas.
  13. A reasonable case for either guy can be made and neither side is wrong. IMO the only side that is wrong is those who think it’s a clear landslide in either direction.
  14. The 142 straight cuts has got to be one of the most impressive records in all of sports...and probably the most underrated.
  15. Yea it just wasn't smart....even by Phil standards. No need to take a fairway wood out of the rough off a side hill lie on a tight hole. Just lay up and wedge the third shot in close for birdie. With how bunched and solid the leaderboard was, I thought carding a 6 there was going to cost Phil the tournament. I was glad to see Phil get the win though. Seems well deserved with how well he's been playing this year.
  16. Phil taking unnecessary risk as usual. No need to go for the green on 11 and it may end up costing him.
  17. True, I failed to fully think about the line from the tee box. Tiger was definitely a good bit left....although not quite as bad Norman's
  18. Yea pretty much. I think he was 2 back of Faldo when he hit that shot at 16...so not completely out of it, but the writing was clearly on the wall by that point that it wasn't going to be his day.
  19. It's not getting talked about much, understandably considering the buzz around Tiger, but Phil is playing some remarkably solid golf this year. I don't want to jinx it, but the stars could be aligning for an epic Masters if Tiger and Phil could both manage to be in the hunt.
  20. Miscommunication- I was saying the ideal landing spot is 30 yards right of where Norman's ball landed in the water- and yea, about 20 feet right of the pin. I can't think of any other guys in contention on Sunday that have hit it where Norman did. Clearly he was shooting for the pin (which isn't even necessary since balls to the right funnel down to the pin) and pulled it a bit. I had to check the video after your comment assuming we're thinking of the same shot (2005)- Tiger's ball was really just long of the green, not really left of the pin.
  21. I was thinking that Norman's 1996 Masters meltdown at least deserves some recognition in this thread but I couldn't think back to a single iconically bad shot that embodied the collapse. Like most of Norman's collapses, it seemed to just be a string of poor shots and poor decision making that ended up costing him. His tee shot at 16 (4:09 in) deserves an honorable mention here and definitely seemed to be the worst of the day. You don't see many (I can't think of any off hand) sunday tee shots that end up in the water there considering the ideal landing spot is ~30 yards to the right, well right of the pin.
  22. Tiger. I’m not convinced Rory will win anytime soon if ever again.
  23. I think I'm a believer at Bay Hill almost regardless of what happens at Valspar....it's Tiger and Bay Hill after all.
  24. Surprised and glad to hear it! Valspar sneakily has a pretty impressive field now- Tiger, Rory, and Spieth all playing.
